TWENTY NINETH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME - The separation of church and state
plays from time to time in American culture. The framers of our Constitution were maybe not as
explicit in their wording as they could have been. They lived at a time when the fear was of an
established church or doctrine that would persecute non-adherents. Jesus is not reinforcing the
United States Constitution in today’s Gospel. Rather he is suggesting that what is essential is the
acknowledgement of God’s rightful place in our lives. We cannot exclude the Lord from our everyday lives. From politics to religion, Scripture teaches us that God alone controls events and has
the final word.
PROPER BOWS - We recite the Profession of Faith every Sunday. There is a part of the profession that states that we
are to bow while saying certain words. We are to bow while we say: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the
Virgin Mary, and became man. Many of us remember that in the past we genuflected at these words. These words, and
what they mean, deserve our special reverence. It is easy to forget and form a habit of not bowing; let us show respect to
Our Lord and start a good habit.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT - We have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every morning
from after the 7:30 Mass to 12:00 Noon and on First Fridays until 7:00 p.m. This is truly a great blessing for the parish.
It is necessary that there be someone in the lower chapel during these hours. The Lord on the altar should never be left
alone. To make sure that this does not happen, there will be a sign up sheet in the lower church with these hours. We
hope that there will be someone present during all these hours.
BAZAAR - Our Parish Bazaar is being held this weekend. There has been a great committee working on this event for
months. I am impressed by the dedication of the many women and men who work together to make this a very successful event. This is the largest event for our Parish and the money is used to help the Parish and the School. Without this
Bazaar, the Parish and School would be in financial difficulty. Thank you to the committee and to the many workers and
to all who attend this wonderful event. This is not only a FUND raising event but also a FUN raising event. I was told
that this is a great parish that works together and now I see that for myself. Thank You.
Join us for our annual Triduum to St. Jude Thaddeus on October 24 after the 7:30 a.m. and
Noon Masses, on Saturday, October 25, after the 7:00 a.m. Mass, and on Monday, October
27, after the 7:30 a.m. and Noon Masses. The Church honors and invokes St. Jude universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things despaired of.
On Sunday, October 26, we will have our Marian Afternoon of Reflection, Guadeloupe in Chicopee, beginning at 2:00
p.m. in the Lower Basilica. Join us for some quiet time for prayer and reflection and bring a friend!
November 7 is the first Friday of the month, our day to pray in reparation for sin, both personal and communal. Our day
of prayer begins after the 7:30 a.m. Mass with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and concludes with Mass celebrated
in Polish at 7:00 p.m. Please plan to spend some time in prayer and reflection before our Eucharistic Lord.
MORNING STAR CHILDREN’S PRAYER GROUP will hold their fir st meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20 in the Lower Basilica. Please bring your children and spend some time in prayer and adoration.
BAPTISM - Through the Sacrament of Baptism we welcome Lyla Rose Solowinski and
Weston Owen William Estrella into the life of God and our Par ish Family and extend our congratulations to their Parents and Godparents. We pray that they continue, by
words and example, to bring up their children to know, love, and serve God.

COMMEMORATION OF ALL SOULS - On Sunday, November 2, a Mass will be celebrated in the
Upper Basilica at 12:00 Noon, when we will read the names of those who passed away between November 1, 2013 and November 1, 2014. Please plan to attend so that, together, we can remember our
deceased loved ones.
DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER the chur ch r emember s the faithful depar ted. At St.
Stanislaus, we also display photographs of the deceased in the Upper Basilica. Please consider including photos of deceased loves ones, especially those who have died during the year. The photos should be brought to the
Parish Office before October 28. The following information needs to be included: the name of the deceased and the date
of death; the name, address, and phone number of the person to whom the photos are to be returned. Participation in the
Mass on November 2 at 12:00 Noon is a fitting way to prayerfully remember our loved ones.

MCFL ANNUAL FUNDRAISING BANQUET - Massachusetts Citizens

ST. STANISLAUS SCHOOL RECYCLE DAY - On Saturday, October 25, St. Stanislaus
School is having a Recycle Day from 8 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. This is going to be held in the school
parking lot at 534 Front Street, Chicopee. Items we will be accepting include: TV’s ($15 charge
for plastic TV’s under 27”; $25 for wooden TV’s, TV’s over 27”; $30 for projection TV’s ), computer monitors ($5 charge), laptops, towers, all computer parts and accessories (keyboard, mice),
speakers, video games and systems, camera/video/audio equipment, fax/copy machines, printers,
wires, plugs, drives, cards, hubs, switches, word processors, scanners, UPS battery backups, docking stations, server racks, servers, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, stoves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, toasters, irons, hair dryers, microwaves, metal poles, metal desks, barbeque grills (no
propane tanks), pots, pans, metal swing sets (metal items must be less than 8 feet long), bottles, cans, and any other
plastic, glass, paper, or wood items. The recycling of computers will include complete hard drive destruction. There
will be a small fee of $2 per item or $5 per box of small items or $10 for large appliances. The money raised will be
used to help the school. Thank you and we hope to see you there!
MISSION SUNDAY COLLECTION - “Today vast numbers of people still do not know
Jesus Christ.” Pope Francis begins his message for this year’s celebration of World Mission Sunday with these words. But he quickly offers us the way to make a joy-filled, lifegiving difference in this regard. “World Mission Sunday is a privileged moment when the
faithful of various continents engage in prayer and concrete gestures of solidarity in support
of the young Churches in mission lands.” This weekend, as our diocesan family celebrates
this “privileged moment” let us join our brothers and sisters around the world who will
gather at the Lord’s Table to celebrate, with great joy, our common vocation as missionaries. Our prayers and concrete gestures of solidarity will help build local churches, like the
church in Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church, and churches across the globe.
Through the work of these churches, and their witness to Christ, the poor receive practical
help and experience God’s love and mercy, His hope and peace. Your financial help on World Mission Sunday, offered
in the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, will support the 1,150 young mission dioceses and
communities who await the “Good News” of Jesus as their saving hope. Pope Francis encourages us to take joyful part
in the Church’s mission to all the nations, as we live our lives grounded in love for Jesus and concern for the needs of
the most disadvantaged. May World Mission Sunday offer each one of us an opportunity to accomplish both, as we
share the joy of the Gospel and help the poor by our fervent prayer and through generous hearts!

JOHN PAUL II LIBRARY NEWS - We would like to thank everyone who donated books and DVDs to our Church
Library. Due to the high number of donations we received, which will take us some time to organize and process, we are

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MINUTES - The last Parish Pastoral Council Meeting was held on September 30.
The members agreed to sponsor a booth at the Parish Bazaar with a variety of children’s games. Fr. Richard and Fr. Michael attended the meeting - members enthusiastically thanked them for joining the parish and for their willingness to
learn about our community. The next Parish Pastoral Council meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, in
the school library. All parishioners are invited to attend. The monthly contact for the month of October is Brian Kelly.

CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL SPONSORS COLLEGE FAIR - Cathedral High School's annual College Fair sponsored by the Counseling Department will be held on Thursday, October 23, at the school campus on 310 Main St., Wilbraham. This is open to all area high school students, their parents, and school counselors. From 5:30-6:30 p.m. there
will be a Financial Aid Program for parents conducted by a MEFA financial aid professional. Representatives from approximately 70 colleges and universities throughout the country will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to answer questions
concerning academic requirements, courses, school atmosphere, and costs. For further information call the school's

FRIENDS OF THE CHICOPEE PUBLIC LIBRARY – Please support the Friends of
the Chicopee Public Library at an evening of wonderful music on Saturday, November 15
at 7:00 p.m. in the Chicopee High School Auditorium. Performers Lenny Gomulka &
Chicago Push will be joining Sarah the Fiddler, Sarah Michel, with Keith DaSilva on
drums and Joseph Dziok on piano. Also, both Chicopee Comprehensive and Chicopee
High School Bands will be performing. This is wholesome entertainment for the entire
family. If you haven’t heard Lenny’s rendition of the Clarinet Polka you don’t know
what you’ve been missing! There will be dancing in the aisles! Tickets are $15 if purchased in advance at the Library’s Circulation Desk or $18 at the door the night of the show. Tickets can also be purchased from Board Members.

DOZYNKI CHILDREN DANCERS fr om the St. J oseph’s National Catholic Church of Westfield
will help celebrate Polish Heritage Month in October with a performance at the next monthly meeting
of the Society of Polish American Culture. This event will take place at the Chicopee Lodge of Elks,
431 Granby Road, Chicopee, on Monday, October 20, at 7:00 p.m. These eight children range in age
from three to seventeen years of age and perform various Polish dances in costume. Membership dues
of $10 will also be collected at the meeting and tickets for the December Wigilia Supper will be on sale
as well. The public is invited to attend.
BLUE MASS - Bishop Mitchell Rozanski cordially invites all law enforcement, fire and correctional officers to attend
the 2014 Blue Mass at St. Michael's Cathedral, on Saturday, October 25, at 6:00 p.m. Those attending should dress in
Class A uniforms and arrive at 5:30pm for line of march into cathedral. All members of the community are invited to
attend to show support & to honor these brave men and women who serve our communities. This Mass will be taped for
broadcast the following morning at 10:00 a.m. on the Chalice of Salvation (WWLP 22News).
100TH ANNIVERSARY DANCE & POLKA PARTY - Join the Chicopee Falls Polish Home in
celebrating their 100th Anniversary with a special Anniversary Dance & Polka Party, with music
provided by the Eddie Forman Orchestra “EFO”. The event will take place on Saturday, October
25 from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. Polish food and
