The Eden Prairie High School Counseling Department Presents

The Eden Prairie High School
Counseling Department
Presents
Thirteenth Annual On-site
Admissions Day
October 23, 2014
1
The Onsite Admissions Program will be held on October 23rd at Eden Prairie High School. This is an
exciting opportunity for you to apply to a maximum of two colleges and be accepted on this
day. This booklet contains information about all of the participating colleges. Application
information and check lists for the colleges will be available in the Career Resource Center
(CRC) once school begins.
The Onsite Admissions Day is a service that provides structure and may reduce the anxiety that
could accompany the college search and application process. Many of the colleges
participating on this day are willing to adjust their usual admission practices and will admit EPHS
students based simply on their ACT scores and GPA. Every senior, regardless of their GPA or test
scores, can be accepted to a college on this day.
It is important to note two things: 1. Colleges raise the bar for this day. So, even if you do not
meet the criteria the college has set, you are encouraged to apply the traditional way. 2. Even
though you may be accepted to a college on this date, you are not obligated to attend this
college and may spend time applying to other, non-participating, colleges.
How do you participate in Onsite Admissions Day?
1. Review the list of participating colleges and onsite admission requirements in this booklet.
2. If you meet the minimum requirements for onsite admissions, pick up a checklist in the
CRC in September.
3. Complete the application process as instructed on the checklist.
4. Request a copy of your transcript and schedule from Student Center South for a fee of
three dollars.
5. Return the completed checklist and materials to the counselors in the Student Center
East on October 7th or 8th from 7:30-3:30 and sign up for an October 23rd appointment
with your chosen college(s).

What’s an Auggie? Even before you come to Augsburg, you may know you’re an Auggie.
Why? Because you value your education and strive to succeed. You may love living and learning
in the city. Perhaps you volunteer and serve in your community, and you are working to make a
difference in the world.
Set in a vibrant neighborhood in the heart of the Twin Cities, Augsburg College is a four-year,
private, liberal arts college, that offers more than 50 undergraduate majors to 2,100 undergraduate
students. The trademark of an Augsburg education is its emphasis on direct, personal experience.
Auggies come from 42 states and 40 countries. They represent different racial and cultural
backgrounds. They all have various ways of thinking, being, and doing.
But Auggies have one thing in common: they use their educational experiences—from first-year
courses to internships, study abroad, research, community service—to the fullest. Guided by the
faith and values of the Lutheran church, Augsburg students leave informed citizens, thoughtful
stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders.
How will an Augsburg College education distinguish you?



Augsburg was named to the Chronicle of Higher Education list of top Fulbright producing
schools with multiple Fulbright awardees every year since 2008.
Auggies have received the Barry M. Goldwater scholarship, the Rotary scholarship, the

Our first Rhodes Scholar was Brian Krohn ’08, a chemistry major who studied environmental
change management at Oxford University.
In 2010, Augsburg was one of six colleges in the nation named to the Presidential Honor
Roll for Community Service. We are the only college in Minnesota to ever receive this
honor.
Augsburg has been named one of the “Best in the Midwest” colleges by The Princeton

Bethel University: Christ-Centered Education
Bethel University is a campus of intellectual, diligent and communal learners who seek to honor
God with their studies and their lives. Bethel was founded in 1871 as a Baptist Seminary, and it has
grown tremendously since then to incorporate 62 majors, a Master’s program and a PhD program.
Among Bethel’s top majors are Business (with 6 emphases), Communication, Nursing & Pre-Medical
Science, Education and Psychology. Our academic programs incorporate small class sizes,
intentional relationships with professors, consistent feedback, overwhelming internship opportunities
in the Twin Cities, and a notable 4-year graduation rate.
While the academics are impressive, Bethel also provides opportunities to: get involved in
community outreach through Twin Cities Outreach (TCO); study abroad through one of our 50+
programs (Bethel was ranked 7th in the nation for its study abroad program last year); enjoy
corporate worship at our weekly chapel services; grow in their faith through dorm-led Bible studies;
meet prominent leaders from Compassion International, The King Center, etc.; and play on one of
our 18 varsity men’s and women’s sports teams.
Bethel is located in Arden Hills, just 15 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis. This means that
Bethel is close enough to the city to accommodate internships, volunteer opportunities, and
community activities such as Twins games. It also means that Bethel is removed enough from the
city to enjoy a lakeside view, 270 acres of forested trails and a serene learning environment. Our
student activities committee is dedicated to building community – both on campus and off
campus. Whether students are critiquing foreign films, having lunch with CEO’s, participating in
“Bethel American Idol” or playing broomball, they are connecting with each other and enjoying
fellowship with Christ. We aim to be a campus that continually pursues Godly character, rigorous
academics and intentional community.
Some fun facts:
Average incoming ACT score: 26
Average incoming GPA: 3.5
80% acceptance rate
Campus size: 2,800 undergraduate students
Bethel awards scholarships for academics, music, art, theater, forensics, leadership and more
91% of Bethel’s students receive scholarships and/or grants!
80% of our students graduate in four years
Since 1972, Bethel has been adding onto its campus every 18 months. Recently, we added a new
Nursing lab and Brushaber Commons.
Our next potential project is a fitness center with weight machines, cardio equipment and labs for
Human Kinetics & Applies Health Sciences (HAS) students
Chapel is held three times a week (not mandatory); we also host a Vespers worship service on
Sunday evenings – a popular event for both the Bethel community and its neighbors

interested in one of those programs, please apply through the traditional process. Applications to
the School of Music are due by December 1 st and applications to The Theatre School are due by
January 15th. In addition, DePaul has implemented a test-optional policy for students applying for

apply test-optional, you are required to submit answers to several short essay questions and will
need to apply through our traditional Early Action or Regular Notification deadlines. Test-optional

DePaul University is the largest private, Catholic institution in America, founded by the Vincentian
Order in 1898. Located in Chicago, it is an urban university reflecting a wide diversity of ethnic,
religious, and economic backgrounds among its students. In fact, the Princeton Review has
ranked DePaul as one of the top 10 schools in the “Most Diverse Student Population” category for
the past 7 years. Chicago is an integral part of the educational, cultural, and social experience at
5
DePaul. DePaul students have access to and take advantage of world-class theatre, music
performances and concerts, renowned museums, sports events and numerous cultural festivals
that the city has to offer in addition to the 280 on-campus organizations and our 13 Division I
athletic teams, which compete in the Big East Conference.
Approximately 16,200 undergraduate students attend DePaul, majoring in over 200 different areas
of study in our 8 colleges (College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and
Health, Driehaus College of Business, College of Education, College of Computing and Digital
Media, College of Communication, School of Music, and The Theatre School). Despite a relatively
large student population, small class sizes and personal attention are a primary focus as student
faculty ratio is 17 to 1, and 98% of all undergraduate classes have fewer than 50 students. A
DePaul education is grounded in the philosophy of holistic education, in which students learn
through their experience inside and outside of the classroom. Embracing a comprehensive
“learning by doing” approach, DePaul brings classroom theory to life through work-study programs,
internships, and community service.

Iowa State University
A Regent Admission Index (RAI) score will be calculated for each applicant, based on the
following equation:
(2 x ACT composite score)
+ (20 x high school GPA)
+ (5 x number of high school courses completed in the core subject areas through senior year)
Note: For purposes of calculating the RAI, SAT scores will be converted to ACT composite
equivalents; high school GPA is expressed on a 4-point scale; and number of high school courses
completed in the core subject areas (English, Math, Science, Social Science and Foreign
Language) is expressed in terms of years or fractions of years of study. Students must also have 2 of
the 3 following science courses: Biology, Physics, & Chemistry.
Applicants who achieve at least a 200 RAI score and who meet the minimum high school course
requirements will be offered admission. Applicants who achieve less than a 200 RAI score and who
meet the minimum high school course requirements may also be offered admission, but should
send their applications to ISU traditionally through the East Student Center. Those applications will
be reviewed on an individual basis. Additional information can be found online:

University of Iowa
A Regent Admission Index (RAI) score will be calculated for each applicant, based on the
following equation for this day only:
(2 x ACT composite score)
+ (20 x high school GPA)
+ (5 x number of high school courses completed in the core subject areas through senior year)
Note: For purposes of calculating the RAI, SAT scores will be converted to ACT composite
equivalents; high school GPA is expressed on a 4-point scale; and number of high school courses
completed in the core subject areas (English, Math, Science, Social Science and World Language)
is expressed in terms of years or fractions of years of study.
Applicants who achieve at least a 200 RAI score and who meet the minimum high school course
requirements will be offered admission through the EPHS Onsite Admissions Day. Applicants who do
not meet the above requirements for this day may still be considered for admission through our
