PRODUCTION FILMI KATSE OY PRESENTS The Cafe Of My Memories is a Finnish-French music film with a script, the lyrics and the direction by Valto Baltzar and the music by Heikki Sarmanto. The story is set in Helsinki, Finland and partly in France. It’s a love story between a Frenchman Philippe and a 19-year-old Finnish girl Emilie. The young French teacher falls in love with Emilie, the daughter of Emma, who runs her own cafe in Helsinki. Emilie helps her mother at the cafe and in the evenings, she goes out with Philippe. Their favorite movie is Jacques Demy’s film Umbrellas of Cherbourg. The movie is about the power of love during the time which sees the surrounding world constantly turning colder and less human. As the society becomes more splintered not everybody can keep up. Philippe decides to pull through these hard times with the power of love. The beautiful songs carries the story on. ! Producer Kimmo Koskela has operated in cinema since the early 1980s. His one of the latest works, Soundbreaker presents an interesting portrait of exceptional artist Kimmo Pohjonen by portraying his trajectory from minor folk artist to renowned avant-garde musician and conceptualist. ! PRODUCTION FILMI KATSE OY PRESENTS MUSIC Lyrics written by Valto Baltzar, Heikki Sarmanto is the composer of the film. Heikki Sarmanto is a Finnish jazz pianist and composer. Sarmanto began to play jazz during the 1960s. He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Sarmanto has released around 40 recordings, numerous published scores, and songbooks, as well as having several film scores to his credit. He has collaborated with jazz musicians such as Sonny Rollins, Art Farmer, Helen Merrill and George Russell. Production Filmi Katse has a negotiation under way with the Gotan Project ; The aim is to adapt the songs to the style of the film. ! ! ! ! !
