Mindful Encounters with Art: Seeing the Art of
Frank Ruggles, National Parks Photographer
The arts can help wake us up, providing new experiences of seeing,
hearing, and feeling. Most of us try to make sense of a visual work
of art by judging whether we find it beautiful or to understand what
the artist is trying to say. Mindfulness is about paying attention
differently on purpose to have a more direct sensory experience.
Join us for one or both of these sessions while we use mindfulness
techniques to engage in the current Arts Castle exhibit without
rushing to understand or evaluate the work. This is a unique way
of experiencing art while learning simple strategies to see the world
around you with fresh eyes.
