Wednesday, October 2
3-4 p.m. Home Means Nevada. Celebrate Our 150th Birthday with
Mark Twain & Shiloh. “Home Means Nevada” is an up-beat, humorous
hour-long story of Nevada as told by Mark Twain (McAvoy Layne) with
music from Shiloh, (Julie Machado & Tim Gorelangton), that gives
Twain’s words wings.

3-4 p.m. Tech Café. Trouble with your mobile device? Not sure how to make use
of it? Join us at a Tech Café for advice and assistance harnessing the power of your
tablet, smartphone, or laptop. Bring your device and your questions!
Tuesday, October 7
3-4 p.m. Harold’s Club or Bust. Steve Ellison is the filmmaker that
is creating the forthcoming documentary, "Harold’s Club". Join in on
this presentation which details the history of this groundbreaking and
pioneering club, and why we should appreciate its significance. For a

2-3 p.m. Nature’s Rock Gardens. Photographer Bob Goodman will take us on a
visual tour of the natural gardens that surround us, to highlight Nature’s handiwork
that at times is obvious, and at times hidden.

Arrived in America not knowing
a word of English and still won the
coveted Close-Up Magician of the
Year, and then Parlour Magician of
the Year just three years later.

11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Lifescapes. A writing program giving Seniors an opportunity
to write and share their memoirs. New members are always welcome. Lifescapes
is sponsored by the Washoe County Library System, OLLI, and the Department
of English at UNR.
Thursday, October 9 (Please Note: Meets on 2nd Thursday This Month)
1:30-2:30 p.m. SO Very Literary Book Club. This month’s book is The Light Between
Oceans by M.L. Stedman. After four years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne
takes a job as a lighthouse keeper. To this isolated island he brings his wife, Isabel.
Years later after two miscarriages and a stillbirth, a boat washes onshore with a dead
man and a crying baby. Isabel insists the baby is “a gift from God” and against Tom’s
better judgment they claim her as their own, not realizing the devastating
consequences their decision will create.

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Paws 2 Read. A reading program for children of all ages proudly
presented by Paws 4 Love. Friendly dogs lend a loving, non-judgmental ear to
beginning readers. After reading to a gentle dog, children receive a free book.
