We are still celebrating National Principals Month at HSD! We hope that you have taken time to say THANK YOU and show your appreciation to our staff of principals. It is not easy doing what they do each and every day. Please continue following the TIGERBEAT each week. We hope that you are getting to know just who makes your child’s/children’s academic world evolve. Now, for our featured principal: PRESENTING MS. MATTINGLY….Meet OUR ASSITANT PRINCIPAL OF DISCIPLINE! What made you want to pursue a career in education? Being in probation made me want to make a difference for people at a younger age and hopefully I am touching someone’s life positively. How long have you been in education? Education is life long–so I guess I could say I have been in education all my life. I have been teaching in Texas since 2008. Which superpower would you like to have and why? To be able to clone myself. I wear various hats and have so much going on i.e. working on a higher degree and duties at school as well as being a grandmother to approximately 14 grandchildren. I stay busy! What is your favorite way to relax? To do long road trips in my truck and have my music blasting. I really miss motorcycle riding for that was very relaxing to me! What is your favorite quote? ? “Why me” or “Here We Go Again”…just joking! I love Muhammed Ali-I grew up down the street from his family in Louisville Ky. Since I am a fan, one of his quotes-“The man who has no imagination has no wings”-is a favorite of mine. Also on the same line, a quote by an unknown author is “Imagination is just Intelligence having fun” is another favorite. Next week we will continue this month long blockbuster in the TIGERBEAT in celebration of National Principals Month!
