ISLAMIC CENTER OF TACOMA 2010 BRIDGEPORT WAY UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA 98466 IMAM POSITION AVAILABLE AT THE ISLAMIC CENTER OF TACOMA The Islamic Center of Tacoma (ICT) is seeking to hire a qualified Imam. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week based on a flex schedule as per the local requirements. Qualifications              Must be an adherent of Ahlul Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. Preferably has memorized the Holy Qur’an and has an Ijaza. Must have a bachelor’s degree in Sharee’ah from an accredited institution. Must have ability to reach out to the Muslim community at large including students and sisters. Must conduct himself at all times in ways that foster unity and a sense of inclusion among all members of the local Muslim community and promote broad participation in community activities. Shall not discriminate against any Muslim on the basis of Islamic school of jurisprudence (Mathaahib), gender, race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship or immigration status, class, or economic status. Shall adhere to the Bylaws of ICT and the policies set by its Board of Directors. Must have previous experience working with Muslim youth. Must have at least five years experience serving as an imam. Must be married. Must possess good written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic. Must possess basic computer skills (typing, email, use of Microsoft Office.) Must be living in the US, authorized to work in the USA and be able to provide legal documentation. Basic Responsibilities            Lead specific daily congregational prayers. Responsible for preparing and delivering Jumaah ceremony. Responsible for organizing and conducting regular halaqah. Provide family and marriage counseling. Assist new Muslims into the transition to Islam. Teach and serve in an advisory role for the weekend Islamic school. Serve as a representative of the masjid to deliver introductory presentations about Islam to local religious centers, civic organizations, college and high school classes. Organize and deliver Islamic programs and lectures to the congregation and others as per requests. Lead taraweeh prayers and organize committees to deliver short reminders in Ramadan Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha – lead the Eid prayer and deliver the khutbah. Solemnizing marriage and burial ceremonies. Salary & Benefits: Based on qualification and experience.
