Foreword
Welcome to the BMW Laakkonen Kuopio International Football Tournament
2015! We are happy to organize a football tournament during the winter when
the snowbanks have conquered the greenish fields outdoors. Kuopio Sports Hall
offers great conditions and we can enjoy football despite the winter. The visiting
teams from St. Petersburg and Tallinn bring us the kind of international breeze
that has not been seen for many years in Kuopio at the junior level. A warm welcome to the tournament!
KuPS was founded in 1923 and holds the 4th place in all-time table of the Finnish
Premier league. During this long history, the club has been training junior players
as well. Nowadays this valuable work gives us a fine football culture, which produces not only great players but also wellbeing for the whole city of Kuopio.
Today, KuPS has over 1500 junior players, who are having fun with the ball and
enjoying the game.
During this tournament weekend the talents of today and probably the stars of
tomorrow are shining. I would like to compliment KuPS-03 active parents and the
forces behind in advance for organizing this event. I would also like to thank the
other sponsors, volunteers and families for their support.
On behalf of the tournament organization I welcome all the teams, coaches and
supporters and hope they will have a positive experience and enjoy our hospitality. I look forward to a weekend with sportsmanship and beautiful football.

TOURNAMENT INFO
Kuopio hall and the tournament office will both open at 7.20 on Saturday 24.1. The tournament office is situated
inside the hall, in a yellow tent in front of the grandstand. The tournament office will be open throughout the
whole tournament. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the tournament office. We are happy to
help.

Registration
All teams must register at the tournament office at least 30 minutes before their first match. If there have been
changes in the team roster after the advance registration, the team leader must deliver a updated player list to
the tournament office.
Parking
There is plenty of free parking space around the Kuopio hall. The parking space for busses is situated behind the
hall (drive along Opistotie past the hall).
Changing rooms
Changing rooms are situated on the ground floor, on the right hand side after the entrance. Due to the large number of participating teams each changing room will be used by more than one team. Team names will be marked
on the changing room doors. It is advisable NOT to leave any valuables in the changing rooms. For the safekeeping of valuables (e.g. mobile phones) there are lockers available in the hallway next to the changing rooms.
Warm-up area
Teams can warm up in the warm-up area situated at the end of the field and on the running track in front of the
grandstand. The running track behind the field and both ends of the hall are not part of the tournament area and
entering or using those areas is forbidden during the tournament.
Due to the tight schedule of the tournament possible penalty shootouts will be held in the warm-up area. This
enables the next game to start on time.
First aid
The first aid station will be situated in the tournament office and will operate throughout the whole tournament.
In the case of a major injury, please contact the first aid station immediately.
Result service
The results will be posted on the tournament website in real time, and they will also be on display on the wall
next to the tournament office. There will be a free Wi-fi service available in the hall during the tournament. The
network will be named ”panKUOPIO”.
Meals
The meals will be served at the tournament site in the hall. The restaurant area can be found at the back end
of the upper floor. Meal times: Saturday lunch 10.45-14.00 and dinner 15.30-18.00, Sunday lunch 11.00-15.00.
Meal prices: 25€/meal package/person, inc. lunch and dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. Meals can also
be bought separately 9,00€/meal. Preordered meal packages will be given to the teams when registering at the
tournament office.
Cafe
The tournament cafe can be found next to the entrance throughout the whole tournament. It will serve e.g. coffee, juice, sandwiches, pizza, pastries and candy. There is also a cafe on the upper floor of the hall.
Prizes
Prizes will be given out after the final match on Sunday at 17.30. The players of the three best teams will be given
medals (max. 18 pcs./team). The winning team will also receive a trophy cup. Additionally, the most valuable
player of each team will receive a special prize.
Extra activities
Just how fast can you kick a football? During the tournament you can measure your kick with a speed radar. The
fastest shots will be awarded! You can also try your luck with a wheel of fortune!

Association of Finland
The 8 teams playing in the age group U12 (P03) are divided into two groups of four teams each. On Saturday each
team will play against the other teams in their group. Teams will be ranked based on the results of these games. On
Sunday the games will continue in two different groups. The teams ranked 1st and 2nd in their groups on Saturday
will compete for the places 1-4. The teams ranked 3rd and 4th will compete for the places 5-8.
In the event of even points when ranking teams in the group phase, the following will apply: 1) the result of the
match between the teams in question 2) general goal difference 3) goals scored 4) drawing of lots.
In the event of a tie in the final phase a penalty shootout will follow immediately. The first round of shootouts will
consist of each player kicking once (round of 3 players shooting per team). If the score remains tied after the first
round of penalty kicks, the players will alternate in a sudden death penalty kick format. The players taking part in
the penalty shootout don’t have to be on the field at the end of the match. A player can shoot a second penalty
kick only after all the players in his team have shot at least one penalty kick. Due to the tight schedule the penalty
shootout will take place in the warm-up area off the field.
Please make sure that the teams are ready to start the games according to schedule. The schedule is tight and therefore it is important to start the games on time.
If both teams are wearing the same color, the away team must change. It should be possible to distinguish between
players on opposing teams.
A yellow/red card system will be used in the games. Yellow cards are not accumulated. Any player receiving two
yellow cards or a red card during one game is automatically suspended from participation in the following match.
All unsportsmanlike conduct and the use of abusive, obscene or racist language and/or gestures is strictly forbidden both on and off the field.
