Trainees in the two-year practical project-based programme gain comprehensive film,
television and screen production skills from script writing, set design and prop making
to crewing (including camera operation, lighting and sound recording), directing, editing
and sound mixing.
Based in Hawke’s Bay and close to an impressive array of locations meeting visual and
technical needs of any production, EIT’s Screen Production studios are deemed to be one
of the best-equipped screen production teaching facilities in a New Zealand institute. The
facility includes two large studios, three editing suits, TV-computer edit stations, a sound
studio and surround sound theatre, which also doubles as a screening room/classroom.
Trainees work with experienced industry professionals, writing and directing their own
projects and crewing on their classmates’ projects.
There is one entry point per year in February. Interviews start in October. You are
welcome to make an appointment to discuss your study options with our staff and to
view our facilities. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at
