A $10 “processing fee” will be charged for any change regarding

You can only enroll your own child. Once enrolled you will not be able to
make any changes. For any changes, please contact us.
After these deadlines, no new registrations, transfers and refunds
will be accepted, even for a withdrawal.

Goals of the AES
department and program
The LFSF keeps offering a variety of extracurricular activities
to choose from in the new school year of 2014 – 2015 through a
system of PASSES that gives access to a wide range of activities, we
encourage flexibility in this attractive program.
Like the tiles in a mosaic put together to create a unified whole, the
different aspirations and characteristics of our students give rise to
a program that is faithful to the unified goals of the LFSF, one that
reflects QUALITY, OPENNESS and SHARING.

Drama 2 (8th-12th)
An exciting workshop for beginners and experts alike! Learn how to
perform on stage, practice memorizing, read and understand texts in
French, learn the art of improvisation and develop characters. Under
the direction and guidance of Gregory, become an apprentice actor/
actress and be ready for the end of session performance.
Creating pottery can be a mild interest or a consuming joy. In either
case, beginning to work with clay is an adventure beggining to work
with clay is an adventure and never boring. There is always more to
explore, more to try out, as well as more to create. Be prepared for a
nice adventure as you enter the world of pottery, for clasy is as deep
and broad as the earth it comes from. During 11 weeks, students will
follow a step by step program where they will learn techniques such as:
pinching, coil making and building, carving out and slab making and
assembling, among others. Students will follow a program where they
will acquire all these techniques.

Art workshops (6th-9th)
TOEFL preparation (9th- 11th)
Alice gives freedom to explore different techniques and creations
of your own imagination. Discover a range of techniques and
topics through week long workshops.
Select a topic of interest and enjoy! You can choose as many
topics and as often as you would like.
Led by our English teacher Yann Grall, the TOEFL preparation
course will familiarize students with the test’s format and will provide
them with the strategies and tools (note-taking, summarizing,
paraphrasing, skimming and more) needed to succeed in this long
and challenging exam. The TOEFL will test all four language skills:
speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will also work
on grammar, word-choice, spelling, and pronunciation, all of which
will need to be mastered to ensure a high score and be ready to
appy to colleges after the LFSF.

Journalism 1 (6th-8th)
Journalism 2 (9th -12th)
Ignite your curiosity and develop your critical thinking and
participate in the school’s new online newspaper. Discover the
basics of reporting and writing in French. You’ll be an active staff
of the editing team in charge of articles, design, photography,
and interviews. Alone or in pairs, with pencils, microphone or
computers, break the news ! Join the Journalism staff of the Lycée
Français de San Francisco.
For creative, talented and active High School students, get
involved in school newspaper staff is an excellent outlet. It will give
you a chance to develop your ideas, event to run a column, and
to apply your leadership skills while also exercising your critical
thinking, designing and writing skills in teamwork. During the year,
interviews outside the school, with artists, economic or political
figures would also give you an opportunity to be a citizen journalist.

Fitness and Workout (8th-12th)
Stay fit with this new activity. Every week, experiment new
workout exercises, conditioning techniques, aerobic steps in
music and learn how to build your own program adapted to
your personal objectives. A class for everybody, from rookies to
athletes!

Collective multisport (6th to 8th)
Volleyball in Fall
Come join our sports teams for two practices a week, and participate
in league championships against local schools (around 6 games per
season). Through individual and group techniques and team cohesion,
Pauline, Frank and the other coaches will make you move! Different
types of sports throughout the year, one for each season (Volleyball,
Basketball and Futsal) what a program!

High School collective sports (9th-12th)
Do you want to enjoy and practice collective sports once a week,
such as volleyball, basketball, futsal, or tennis? One weekday will
be reserved for high school students, offering them a way to share
and workout together. There’s a potential possibility to represent
the LFSF in Californian leagues and international championships
and athletic events!

As the LFSF gets more involved in local and international events, new
sport modalities are being offered every year. This year we introduce
resistance running and mountain biking! Eying some really exciting
adventure races, we’re putting together a team of outdoorsy and
athletic enthusiasts to represent LFSF!

Judo A & B (6th-12th)
Cross Country and Track & Field (6th-8th)
As created by Jigoro Kano, Judo (literally ‘Gentle Way’) is an
intellectual, physical and moral method of education. It includes
throwing, pinning and submission techniques. Judo is also
education. The objective is selfdiscovery and assertiveness within
the respect of others. It developsself-control and it is in the logic for
constantly searching for improvement under the Judo Moral code.
Be ready with William, 3nd Degree Black Belt, for practices, clinics
and tournaments. At the end of the year, you’ll be offered to pass
judo belts.
Bring your bottle and sneakers but also your energy on the stadium! Let’s
discover or improve your skils in Hurdles, Long jump, Sprints, Distance
runs, Relays, Triple Jump and Shot put. If the weather is bad, let’s stay
on Ortega campus and do some conditioning inside. A transportation
from Ortega to the stadium is offered at 3:00pm. Competitions of Cross
Country will be offered by the SFIAL league during the Fall and also
Track and field next spring 2015.

Fencing is the art of mastering space, time and ...life! Hold your
opponent on the tip of your foil under the watchful eye of the
rigorous master of arms, Yves Ghiai. Fencing develops a sense
of brotherhood, loyalty, righteousness and nobility of heart. At the
end of the training you can get your “blason”, an official French
diploma that the LFSF accredited by the French Fencing Federation.
The LFSF is the only Lycée Français of the world to be member of
this Federation! Some of our skilled students might be selected to
participate to the UNSS French championship as well!
Discover this strategic game with Nicolas! Come play in different types of
tournaments and live the smashes, lifts and effects of any kind. Learning
techniques and game analysis is planned and players of 6th, 7th, and
8th grade will have the chance to play some tournaments during the
Winter!

healthy activity will lead to relaxation and self confidence. Improve

High Tech (6th-8th)
STANFORD MATHS CLUB A and B
With the High Tech club, our students will continue learning a high level
of technology all year long whereas the technology discovery workshop
which is part of the students’ curriculum lasts a trimester. Robotics,
video game programming, 3D printing are examples of exciting
activities allowing a creative environment. Come to develop high value
skills such as: math, programming, mechanics of objects, mechanical
modeling, sensor, motor, servo, and video network programming. We
will use RobotC, App Inventor, Scratch, Objective-C, Inventor Fusion
for 3D printing. Usually taught at the university level, the training to
develop/reinforce these skills has been adapted for middle and high
school students by Anton Ritzu ou technology teacher. Fun high
tech activities will certainly complement the French curriculum and
prepare students for engineering careers.
Excellent in Maths? That¹s for you! Need help in Maths? That¹s also
for you. Kim will be here for who wants to improve math skills, enrich
math understanding, be challenged in math in new ways. Using the
EPGY web-based STANFORD Mathematics program students can
work at their own pace and skill level on a complete Maths curriculum.
Course content emphasizes conceptual geometry and mathematical
foundations, and includes the following topics: simple arithmetic,
fractions, decimals, sets, measurement, graphs, functions, geometry,
pre-algebra, statistics, data analysis, and probability.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS (6th-7th)
From concept to launch, expect to have fun creating and growing an
environmental project in this interactive group of young entrepreneurs.
Join our team! Be one of the designers, artists, computer wizards, or
negotiators who will work side by side to make an event happen. Then
enjoy a field trip with your Young Entrepreneurs squad! Last year the
group organized a huge caramel sale and a book swap from the start
to the final business report! This experience will develop leadership,
confidence, and creative problem solving in an environment that
inspires respect, independence, and self reliance.

Glee Club Group (6th-12th)
Piano Instructor: Aurelie Morales
With Magali, the music teacher, you will work tirelessly on singing,
working on harmonies, rhythm and learning how to perform on a
stage. Join her for two options of Glee Club! On Monday be part of
the group singing in French in the Glee Club “group”, if you want to
sing songs in a group with harmonies, choreography and costumes.
On Wednesday, Glee Club duo & solo will welcome the singers for
solo or duo (max.2 people singing together) from any repertoire
you choose. You can be in both groups. Come learn in a friendly
atmosphere the songs that you like and get individualized advice!
Aurelie Morales began piano at age of 9 and graduated from the
Conservatory of Gnessin in Moscow, Russia. She also graduted from
the Conservatory of San Francisco with an Opera Major. For the past
5 years, she has been teaching students of all ages and levels in three
different languages: French, English and Russian. Her method combines
Russian and European technique and uses the voice as a training tool
for the ear and coordination.

Instructor: Irene Lin
Irene Lin is a classically trained violinist and violist, most recently having
studied with world renowned Hellen Callus and Don Ehrlich. With 5
years of experience teaching students of all ages with varying degrees
of skill and talent, Irene Lin is always patient. It is important to her that
that music is fun and enjoyable, so she takes care to create a safe and
comfortable learning environment for even her shiest students. Each
lesson is individually tailored in order to achieve common goals between
student, teacher, and parent.
Guitar Instructor: Justin Ribeiro
Students will learn many different styles (Spanish, Classical, Jazz, Rock,
Folk, Pop), the fundamentals of reading, charts, theory, ear training, solo
performance, composition and songwriting. Justin Ribeiro wants his
students to be passionate about the music they listen to and that they
create!
