Industry Update: Texas, Oklahoma, and Beyond - Bill Minick, JD, LLM and
John Doak, Oklahoma Insurance Department Commissioner
Bill Minick, the leading authority on alternatives to Workers’ Compensation, will advise us on the latest information about
the Oklahoma Option, as well as giving a legislative update on Texas nonsubscription. He will also lead a discussion with
several well-known employers comparing Texas and Oklahoma alternatives.
Medical Management - Melissa Tonn, MD
President and Chief Medical Officer of OccMD Group, Dr. Melissa Tonn, will bring to life nonsubscriber medical
management case studies. She will also discuss management of mandatory benefits in Oklahoma and give us a view of
a medical expert’s role in litigation. Dr. Tonn is an annual favorite and you will find her sessions both entertaining and
informative.
Biodynamic Research Corporation (BRC) - Accident Reconstruction - Lars Reinhart, MD and Enrique Bonugli, BSME
Accident reconstruction is often utilized to determine the events that led to a crash and helps prove exactly what
happened, how it happened and why. Enrique Bonugli, a senior test engineer at BRC, will walk us through a
reconstruction and add clarity as to what caused the incident and why there might be differences between witness
testimony. Dr. Reinhart specializes in emergency medicine and will discuss injuries resulting from “slip and falls” and
falling objects.
Employee Protection: The Framework of Alternative Benefit Programs - Staci Cassidy, JD
This session will highlight a variety of federal legislation that guides an employer in building, implementing and
administering an alternative benefit program that takes care of injured employees.
The Litigation Report Card: What is Our Grade? Partnersource Attorney Team Leaders led by Jennifer Hurless, JD
This session will review the number of negligence claims asserted, as well as their outcomes, in an effort to provide a
picture of the risk of exposure actually realized through responsible nonsubscription.
So You Think You Can Investigate? - PS Players
The PS Players will have another engaging presentation this year, demonstrating how to avoid common pitfalls in
the initial recorded statement and then how to use this information to access relevant details through social media,
surveillance, and background checks.
What Says the High Court? - Donna Peavler, JD and David Dodge, JD
Donna Peavler of The Peavler Firm, will detail what the Appeals Court of Texas held in Austin v Kroger (2013) and
David Dodge of McCathern PLLC will further provide an update of additional significant case law developments affecting
nonsubscribers. Both of these attorneys specialize in general liability, nonsubscription and commercial litigation.
Texas Nonsubscriber Essentials for Professionals - Richard Johnson, JD
Richard will lead a session that will offer a broad overview of nonsubscription, including identification of major program

Compensation and those new to Texas nonsubscription.
