That was my message Sunday. Here are a few of the It’s time challenges I offered: • It’s time for First Baptist Church, Cornelia to lose our fear of the future and start noticing the tender shoots of God’s Spirit springing up around us. • It’s time for us to accept our identity as the People of God, not just good people. • It’s time for us to be people of faith, not just people of tradition. • It’s time for us to pray without ceasing rather than pretending to pray so we can remain the same. • It’s time to listen and follow God rather than listening to sermons and being spectators in worship. • It’s time rediscover and recommit to why we are church members at First Baptist Cornelia rather than looking for what we get. • It’s time for some of us to commit to Jesus, to be baptized, and to stop living for ourselves. • It’s time that we start telling everyone the great things God is doing in our church rather than complaining what we aren’t doing. • It’s time for us to call each other when we miss church. • It’s time to commit as members at First Baptist Church – some of us regularly worship with us and yet have not committed to us. We need you. We need your energy and your fresh ideas. • It’s time – First Baptist Church - It’s time! God has gifted us with a marvelous future – it’s time to commit and live in celebration of all God is doing and with expectation of all God is about to do. What is it time for each of us to do to usher in God’s future inside us today? We need each us to remember what it means to be a member of First Baptist Church. Being a member means committing our lives to Jesus. Being a member means living in community with other Christians as members of a family of faith. Being a member means showing up – worshipping together, studying the bible together, praying together, and serving our world together. Being a member means engaging in the life of this church – supporting our vision, sharing your opinions, listening to others – all as we abandon ourselves to God. God is at work in our church. God needs us first to commit our lives to Jesus. The future of our church starts with God’s work in us. God then needs us to commit ourselves as members of this faith community. If you have not joined us, we need your commitment. If you have never been baptized, it’s time to make that spiritual commitment. It’s time! It’s time. What are we waiting for? I look forward to celebrating with you in worship this Sunday. New Sermon Series Pastor Eric Follow Sermon Series October 19 – November 23 YEAR-TO-DATE FINANCIAL REPORT 1/1/14 – 9/30/14 (9 Mos.)
