question "What is the
purpose for my being here?" then this
book is for you!
A popular song states: You’ve got to
accentuate the positive, eliminate
the negative, don’t mess with Mr. Inbetween.
We can overload our minds and forget
the things that are really important.

On The Journey
It’s time!
That was my message Sunday. Here are a few of the It’s time challenges I
offered:
• It’s time for First Baptist Church, Cornelia to lose our fear of the future and
start noticing the tender shoots of God’s Spirit springing up around us.
• It’s time for us to accept our identity as the People of God, not just good
people.
• It’s time for us to be people of faith, not just people of tradition.
• It’s time for us to pray without ceasing rather than pretending to pray so
we can remain the same.
• It’s time to listen and follow God rather than listening to sermons and being
spectators in worship.
• It’s time rediscover and recommit to why we are church members at First
Baptist Cornelia rather than looking for what we get.
• It’s time for some of us to commit to Jesus, to be baptized, and to stop
living for ourselves.
• It’s time that we start telling everyone the great things God is doing in our
church rather than complaining what we aren’t doing.
• It’s time for us to call each other when we miss church.
• It’s time to commit as members at First Baptist Church – some of us
regularly worship with us and yet have not committed to us. We need
you. We need your energy and your fresh ideas.
• It’s time – First Baptist Church - It’s time! God has gifted us with a marvelous
future – it’s time to commit and live in celebration of all God is doing and
with expectation of all God is about to do.
What is it time for each of us to do to usher in God’s future inside us today?
We need each us to remember what it means to be a member of First
Baptist Church. Being a member means committing our lives to Jesus. Being
a member means living in community with other Christians as members of a
family of faith. Being a member means showing up – worshipping together,
studying the bible together, praying together, and serving our world together.
Being a member means engaging in the life of this church – supporting our
vision, sharing your opinions, listening to others – all as we abandon ourselves
to God.
God is at work in our church. God needs us first to commit our lives to
Jesus. The future of our church starts with God’s work in us. God then needs
us to commit ourselves as members of this faith community. If you have not
joined us, we need your commitment. If you have never been baptized, it’s
time to make that spiritual commitment.
It’s time! It’s time. What are we waiting for?
I look forward to celebrating with you in worship this Sunday.

Dear Church Family,
Please accept my family’s and my
own profound appreciation for the
many expressions of love and concern
shown to Norma during her final
illness. Your cards, calls, messages,
and prayers were a source of
encouragement and hope for all of us.
Once again, we have been reminded
of the deeply-caring nature of this
congregation and we give thanks!
Sincerely,
Chester King
FAITH FORMATION NEWS From Pastor John
THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19 we will celebrate 40 years of Camp Agape! Sunday
School will start at 9:30 am this week followed by worship at 10:30 am. We
may need some youth to help set up for the luncheon this Sunday during the
Sunday School hour, but everyone will meet in their regularly places starting at
9:30 am.
SPECIAL THANKS to all who helped with the Big Red Apple Festival this year,
especially to the families of Mary Verdery and Becky Hughes. We still have
pumpkins available here at the church for any donation you would like to give
to help our youth and children with future events!
COMING UP: On Sunday October 26 during youth Sunday School Mr. Dustin
Thomas will be teaching all of our youth. He will be reviewing all of the fruits
of the spirit that we have been discussing on Wednesday nights for the past
few weeks. Parents, I encourage you to get your youth to Sunday School on
this Sunday.
HARVEST FESTIVAL is coming Sunday afternoon October 26! If you would be
willing to open your car trunk and hand out candy at the field next to McDonalds PLEASE contact me. We still need a couple of cars so that all the books
of the Bible will be represented as over 1,000 children go through our Walk
Through the Bible Trunk or Treat. If you can help, we need your car there by
4:30 pm and the event will end by 8 pm. EVERYONE plan to bring your children
to this event from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday October 26. WE ALSO DESPERATELY NEED DONATIONS OF CANDY! You can drop candy by the church office
or give a donation specifically for this event.
YOUTH please plan to help give out candy at the cars during the Walk Through
the Bible Trunk or Treat on October 26 form 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the field next to
McDonalds!
PLAN TO STAY FOR LUNCH here after church on October 26 to support our
ESOL students. We are thankful for the ministry that Jim Miner and many others supply to those seeking to learn English here in our community. Lunch will
be available for a donation.
REMEMBER OUR MISSIONS SUMMIT is coming November 15. Watch your
Good Tidings and our website for more information on this church wide event.
