Worship Expansion!? A Congregational Dialogue
Tonight @ 7pm
“Worship is not meant to promote an institution, to publicize a program, or to elevate
any person, but to exalt God. Worship is not a self-serving experience but a God-serving
endeavor.”
C.Welton Gaddy, The Gift of Worship
On August 27, Chestnut Grove launched an enthusiastic dialogue to series
explore future options for expanding worship capacity at CG. Each week
since, deacons and staff have together pondered the positive and negative
factors related to countless options. We prayerfully and systematically
discussed the following six possibilities:
● Building/leasing a larger worship space
● Launching a new congregation
● Hosting offsite worship “satellites”
● Exporting folks to sister churches
● Posting “No Vacancy” sign
● Reallocating current worship resources
These conversations proceed from very good news-our current Sunday worship gatherings continue to grow
steadily. If historic annual attendance patterns and current growth trends continue, we will leave too little
margin for new worshipers before year’s end.
Our recent worship dialogues have generated fresh ideas and new enthusiasm about what God is doing
among us, and how we might best respond. Please join our deacons and staff for a community-wide
conversation at 7pm tonight. Your input will be vital as we engage a forthcoming worship expansion
experiment. Children’s Team Time With God will remain in Upper Room during Worship Expansion conversation and Mission Friends will meet in room #111.

Broadus Wood discreetly distributes the food to the
appropriate children.

October is minister appreciation month!
If you are interested in preparing a
meal for one of our amazing ministers,
please contact Heidi Farr at 964-9323
or [email protected] Please choose a week in
October that you can bring them a meal, then you will
be assigned a minister. Once notified of your minister,
you can contact them to arrange a time during the
week that fits both of your schedules.
Fall Trash Pick Up
Meet at church at 9am on Saturday, October 25 for our roadside
trash pick up. We should be finished
in about an hour. Please wear old
shoes and bring gloves. Thanks for your help in this
project to keep our community’s roadsides beautiful.
Missing Something?
All left behind platters, dishes, etc
that have accumulated on the
upstairs kitchen counter will be
donated to the Earlysville Exchange on Monday,
October 27. Check for your items today!
Gifts of Hope
for The Homeless
We are collecting small size toiletries
that will be used by the Salvation
Army and PACEM to share with the
many homeless in our local communities. A new toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, shampoo, deodorant, women’s personal hygiene products
are all small but very effective means of improving the
quality of life many of our neighbors are experiencing.
Collection baskets are located in the Welcome area
through October.
An Unlocked Door?
It takes a village to raise a child and it
takes a congregation to maintain a
church building. If you exit a door,
please insure that it locks behind you.

The Fall Meeting of the Central
Virginia Baptist Association will be
held on Sunday, October 19 at
3pm at Mooreland Baptist Church,
2255 Taylor's Gap Road, North
