OUR CHURCH CHILDREN & YOUTH

Volume 1
A Going Church For The Coming Christ
Issue 10
October - December 2014
OUR CHURCH
It’s time to get
EXCITED about
our upcoming
church anniversary. Why get
excited? Because we started
from the bottom
and now we are here. We are celebrating 143 years on Sunday, October 19 at both 8 and 10:45 A.M.
services. Don’t we look AWESOME! We have come a long ways
and by the grace of God we will
continue because we still have work
to do. The Theme is: “143 years of
perseverance and the people had a
mind to work”. 1 Corinthians 15:
58
Remember also that we want to
follow the tradition of a sacrificial
offering of one dollar for each year
of the church’s existence. A much
smaller
sacrifice
than the
one Christ
made for
us, don’t
you think?
Stonewall is a busy church filled
with ministries that focus on mission and serving. There are four
family ministry groups organized
by the first letter of your last name.
Guess what that means? You are a
part of a large family here at The
Wall. If you are unsure of which
family ministry you are in take the
first letter of your last name and
link it to one of the following:
Abraham Family - Letters A - F
Nehemiah Family - Letters G - L
Jacob Family - Letters M - R
Good Samaritan Family Letters S - Z
If you are a new member and unsure of which church ministry to
become a part of, then browse the
list below and select one that
matches that God given talent that
you have been blessed with.

CHILDREN & YOUTH
The youth of
Stonewall truly
blessed us with
their gifts and
talents this summer. After Vacation Bible
School, they went full steam ahead for
the remainder of the summer. First, they
participated in the State convention
activities in
July. Several of
our youth were
part of the 13th
district choir,
drama and mime
ministries. It
was a blessing for them to fellowship
with other youth
from various
churches. Next,
they had the
opportunity to
travel to Branson,
MO to see the
Jonah production. Now, that was a
blessing they’ll always remember! And
what is summer without a little
fun? Our trip to Magic Springs Amusement Park brought excitement as they
rode rides
and cooled
off at the
different
water parks.
In the midst
of all of that, our young people still
made time to practice and prepare for
this year’s Gospel Explosion. When it’s
all said and done, the only way to describe this year’s Gospel Explosion is
SPIRITFILLED. Every night
was exciting, with the
dancing, singing,
mimes, poetry, gospel rap, drill team,
step team and let us
not forget the powerful preaching from
Rev. Joe Johnson, Jr. At the end of
it all, the point to ponder, “What a
Mighty God We Serve!” Praise
God for youth with a heart for Him
and for an awesome, safe summer.
Summer has come and gone, the
children and youth are back in
school and still busy in the church.
The Children and Youth Ministry
needs your support, hands, time,
talents and trunks in volunteering to
help with the preparations for the Annual Hallelujah Night
on Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30
P.M. in the Family Life Center
and church parking lot.
Please donate candy and baked
goods (cupcakes, cakes, & cookies)
for this fun-filled night for our children and youth. All volunteers
interested in helping, please see
Sister Shirley Creagh or Sister Jassery Darby. We look forward to
seeing all the helping hands and
trunks filled with goodies for our
children and youth.
In the meantime, while
planning for Hallelujah Night, the youth
will take a break to
attend a Day of Community Awareness
workshops on Promoting Unity and Peace on Saturday,
October 25th. Topics of discussion are as follows:
 Making right choices/Felonies
 DUI/Don’t Drink at All/MADD
 Police Rapport/What to do when

stopped
Cyberbullying/Peer Pressure/
Sexting (SOCIAL MEDIA)
Domestic Violence
Health Awareness


All youth are encouraged to attend,
bring a friend, and non-perishable
food items, that will be donated to
the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. Following the workshops,
our very own Stonewall Youth
Choir will be in concert with
recording artist, Terrell Carter
on Saturday, October 25th at 7

GRATEFUL, GRATEFUL, GRATEFUL, GRATEFULNESS
THANKSGIVING & Supplication
How to Show Gratefulness to God?
There are many ways to show that we
are grateful to God for all that he has
allowed us the privilege of enjoying.
We can start by Remember Him and
Prayer. How do we remember him?
By making sure that he is a part of our
everyday thoughts, actions, words, and
deeds. Share him with our friends,
family, co-workers, classmates, doctor, and everyone we are blessed to
come in contact with. Spend time in
His word daily, reading for understanding, encouragement and guidance.
We can also show gratefulness by Recognizing
His Hand and Obeying
His Commandments in
our daily lives. His
hand is a blessing to us because of our
lives, our health, our homes and our
country. Stop what you are doing!
Take a look around inside and outside.
Admire all the beauty that His loving
hand has created and given to us for
our enjoyment. Look in the mirror at
yourself and see how beautiful,
skilled, talented and smart you are.
He created one unique you.
Serve Others to show gratefulness.
He told us in His word at Matthew
25:40 that Matthew 25:40 “Verily I
say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have
done [it] unto one of the least of these
my brethren, ye have done [it] unto
me.” Community service is one of
the most effective ways to serve others
during the holidays. We can serve at
our local shelters such as the Shreveport Rescue Mission, the Providence
House, Salvation Army, and local
nursing homes.
Let’s start by donating food to the
church food pantry for the Annual
Thanksgiving and Christmas Basket
Give-A-Way. This is a gr eat way to
serve others who are less fortunate
during this time of year. Mark these
important dates, November 23rd and
December 21st at 1 P.M., on your
calendar for the upcoming basket give
-a-way.
CHILDCARE
Great News! Great News! The next
phase for our new Child Development Center has started. The soil has
been prepared and is ready for the
setting of the frame for the foundation. Your continuous prayers and
support are needed as we continue to
move forward in the work of kingdom building as our Ten Year Plan
unfold here at Stonewall. May God
richly reward you according to your
thanks giving!
December,
the month for you
There is a lot to do during the
month of December. How can you
get involved? First, by downsizing or cleaning out your closet for
the holidays.
Then donate those
clothes, shoes,
hangers and/or
toys, during the
end of the month of November, to
the Annual Clothing Give-A-Way
on December 6th at 9 A.M. in the
Family Life Center. Volunteers
will be needed to help with preparing and set-up. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact
Ola Lewis at (318) 550-8580.
The Health and First Aid Ministry will be gearing up for the
final Blood Drive of 2014 on
December 7th at 9 A.M. in the
Fellowship Hall.
Please come out
and donate for a
very worthy cause.
On the last day of
December, our
heavenly father
gave us the privilege to have Watch
Night Service that star ts at 10
P.M. He gave us a night to pr ay,
meditate, worship, praise, and show
gratitude for being able see the
2015 New Year together. We look
forward to seeing all the Champion
Prayer Warriors who did not get
knocked out of the ring with their
yearly bible reading and meditation.
If you got knocked out, that’s okay!
Get back up and take another swing
at it in 2015. Let’s Get Ready to
Rumble.
