Started as an international initiative of members from the Universities of Maribor, Cluj-Napoca and Loughborough in 2004 Rapid Prototyping and Innovative Manufacturing Network - RAPIMAN had proven its importance, serving as a commercial and educational platform for Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing. www.rapiman.net The conference is an interdisciplinary event, mainly aimed at applicable solutions in Additive Manufacturing. These include technical and biomedical solutions of practical problems with the only objective; using new technology to simplify traditional approaches or to invent new solutions. In 2013 the conference will be co-organized by the Association for Supporting Automation and Robotics (Verein zur Förderung der Automation und Robotik – F-AR) and will be held on October 16th-17th, in Vienna. Since the 2nd iCAT the conference attracts many medical personel and has become one of the important educational events for medical doctors wishing to broaden their knowledge and introduce AM into their surgical practice. The conference is supported by many international initiatives ranging from GARPA – Global Alliance of Rapid Prototyping Associations to technological platforms at EC. The conference has also been supported by Wohlers Associates, with Terry Wohlers being the keynote speaker in all the conferences.
