QUEEN ELIZABETH'S GIRLS' SCHOOL www.qegschool.org.uk 24 Oct 2014 Newsletter HAPPY HOLIDAYS I’d like to wish all members of the school community a super half term break. Congratulations to both pupils and staff who have all worked REALLY hard, enabling us to have a good start to the school year. I am delighted to have received direct and indirect feedback about how well the new Y7 have settled in. AWARDS FOR DISTINGUISHED WORK This week I was delighted to see Ciara Daley with her Science work which showed what happens to a cheese sandwich when it is eaten. Her poster was not only excellent science, but also a great piece of art/graphic design. The Award for Distinguished Work was truly well deserved. I was also delighted to be passed Commendations for excellent dialogues in French for Niloufar Badiani, Holly Bailey, Olivia Shaw (all 9R), Vishna Haran and Rose Jenner (both 9P), Lara Page-Brown and Charlotte Smith (both 9P). Well done everyone! Keep up the good work. The girls affected went straight to the police station to report the matter. Hopefully, this was not a serious incident, but I would like to remind girls to walk to school with a friend whenever possible and, if you are concerned about someone, to note as many details as possible and contact the police. AMAZON WISH LIST One of our parents has suggested (and very kindly set up) an Amazon Wish List for the school with the idea that whilst ordering Christmas presents, parents might also like to make a donation to the school of something very practical. At present, there are only a small number of books, but Mrs Aldridge would be pleased to hear of suggestions for Library books and departments might also wish to suggest items which they would like pupils to be able to access in the Library. Please buy or suggest! Thank you THINKING OF BEING A VET/VET NURSE? I now understand the hype about the movie. Watching the film in that comfortable environment helped me enjoy the film a lot more, because the 6th formers were able to keep everyone quiet. I am very happy I watched this brilliant film in school as I saved money by not going to the cinema. I was very impressed on my first time there and I think it is a great idea. They'll definitely see me back there again. Igochi Elechi 8Q If you would like to attend Film Club come to 204 Thursdays at 3.30pm - Everyone is invited!
