Putting our best face forward
This week we started installing the first of 440 precast concrete
façade panels for our Clinical Services Building. The
monochrome panels will be offset by vibrant coloured glass fins
to create the distinctive façade of the new building. The panels
were manufactured locally by Hanson Precast in Riverstone, so
we’re proud to be supporting local jobs and manufacturing as
well. Can’t get enough of pre-cast concrete? Visit our YouTube
channel to see the video.
 Artist impression of how the finished building façade will look.
 The first panels arrive on site.
 The first panel is craned into
place as part of the test run on
Wednesday.
 By Thursday morning, you
could start to see how the final
façade would look
 And today we made a corner!

Fun and games
 On demand: Project Director Andrew Paris and Transition
Manager Peter Rophail check out the new mock-up patient
entertainment system for Blacktown. The system will provide
access to on-demand entertainment and has the capacity for
online meal orders and medical records access in the future.
We’re floored!
Grand designs: Artist Robyn Caughlan unveiled her design
for the floor of the meeting place - a gathering place in our
new Clinical Services Building foyer. The gathering place is a
major project for our arts and culture team and will
complement mosaic seats and a major foyer sculpture.
North Shore visit
Walk this way
 We’ve got it covered: Progress on our new awning at
Blacktown Hospital which will provde covered access from
the car park to the new building.
 Shore thing: Our BMDH Project and Westmead Hospital Project
teams visited the new Royal North Shore Hospital Clinical Services
Building to inspect the facility ahead of its December opening.
The RNSH Clinical Services Building was purpose-built for birthing,
maternity, burns, paediatrics and acute inpatient mental heath.
