BAND BINGO
On Sunday, November 9, 2014 the Slater Band
Boosters will be hosting a Band Bingo fundraising event at the Blue Valley Farm Show auditorium with all proceeds being used to benefit instrumental students of the Bangor Area School
District. Prizes include items from Longaberger,
Vera Bradley, Coach, Thirty-One, as well as
Alex & Ani. There will be 20 games of bingo,
as well as 5 special raffles, a large tricky tray,
a 50/50 drawing, and door prizes. Tickets are
available in advance. Doors open at 11 am and
the games begin at 1 pm. Anyone attending

VETERANS DAY PARADE
Veterans Day Parade 11/9 noon Starting at
Stroudsburg High School and ending in East
Stroudsburg in Dansberry Park. Put on by the

WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP
TO HONOR VETERANS
Williams Township veterans will be honored at
a service on Sunday, November 9, 1 pm, at the
Veterans Memorial on the Williams Township
Municipal campus, 655 Cider Press Rd., Easton.
The public is most welcome. Frances Dreisbach,
Assoc. Professor Emerita of Social Welfare and
Criminal Justice, Kutztown University, will offer
thoughts for the occasion. Children from the Williams Township Elementary School will pay special tribute to each attending veteran and to each
branch of the service. MC for the service will be
township resident and veteran, Lou DiLullo. John
Ansman will lead the moment of silence for veterans who died since November 2013. Flag raising to honor veterans will be carried out by Don
Hockman, Jess Murray, Lester Race, and Mike
Strawn. The children will lead the audience in the
National Anthem. The program is organized by the
Williams Township Veterans Memorial Committee.

BIKE FOR THE BRIDGE
The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is hosting Bike for the Bridge on Saturday,
November 8. Participants, and their bikes, will be
shuttled from downtown Jim Thorpe to their starting destination by Pocono Biking. Participants
will have the option to ride from the Black Diamond
Trailhead to Jim Thorpe (36 miles) or from Rockport to Jim Thorpe (15 miles). The price will include
a D&L Membership. All proceeds of this event benefit the completion of the D&L Trail and building the
pedestrian bridge at Jim Thorpe to connect to the
Lehigh Canal Towpath and Weissport.
BLAIRSTOWN HISTORIC WALKING TOUR
As part of the year long celebration of Blairstown’s 175th Anniversary (1839-2014), the
Blairstown Historic Preservation Committee is
holding a guided walking tour of historic Main
Street, Blairstown. In addition to learning the
tales of Blairstown villagers, you can walk in
the footsteps of the twenty-first richest man in
America, John I. Blair. The Old Mill and other
historic landmark will be discussed. Saturday,

HAUNTED HUGH MOORE PARK
It’s nearly Halloween and there’s some mischief brewing in Hugh Moore Park. For two nights only, Oct. 30,
& 31, there will be a ghoulish canal boat ride aboard
the Josiah White II and a ghost walk based on the
spooks that haunt the 1829 Lehigh Canal. Haunted
Hugh Moore Park will also feature Judy England-McCarthy, a practitioner of the ancient art of storytelling.

NCC’S SPARTAN SPRINT
TO BENEFIT NEEDY STUDENTS
Northampton Community College will hold a 5K challenge, the “Spartan Sprint,” on Saturday, Nov. 15, at
the Main Campus in Bethlehem. Proceeds will be
used to establish a rainy-day fund for NCC students
in crisis. Participants may walk or run the fast, flat 5K
course on paved surfaces. Registration begins at 8
a.m., and the 5K starts at 9 a.m. Free t-shirts will be
given to the first 100 participants. Entrance fee is for
runners, for walkers, or for NCC students whether
