 State Fair Community College is hosting its Roadrunner Preview Days on November
21, January 23, February 27, March 27, and April 24. RSVP one week prior to each date
at www.sfccmo.edu/visit. Preview Days begin at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m., and include
lunch. This is for juniors, seniors, and their families. Students will discover the new
navigation advising program, interact with someone from their program of interest, learn
about admissions and financial aid, meet instructors and current students, take a campus
tour and see the residence hall, and enjoy a free lunch.
 Interested in becoming a physician? Consider the University of Missouri-Kansas City School
of Medicine. It is a six-year B.A./M.D. program. Students have the opportunity to earn both
Baccalaureate and Doctor of Medicine degrees through a six-year (48 weeks a year) combineddegree program that blends the humanities and arts with the discipline of medicine. Students
young in their high school careers are encouraged to begin preparing for the six-year program by
enrolling in challenging high school courses, taking active leadership roles in student
organizations and activities and demonstrating a commitment to health care through involvement

Sussie Scholarship
Eligibility: High school seniors or current full-time undergrad or grad students. No

Coca Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. institution and
carrying a minimum GPA of 3.00 at the end of their junior year. Apply online only at

Award: $10,000 - $20,000 based on 4 years

Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship
Eligibility: Be 13 years of age or older, be currently enrolled or enrolling no later than
fall of 2020 in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Submit an
online short written response (250 words or less) for the question: “Imagine that your
high school/college has been overrun with Zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria
ladies and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Use our brain to flesh
out a plan to avoid the Zombies, including where you would hide and the top 5 things you
would bring with you to stay alive.”

Coca Cola Scholars Program Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors planning to pursue a 4 yr. degree at an accredited college, have a
minimum 3.00 GPA, and children or grandchildren of employees or owners of Coca Cola

Megan Meier Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors that have made a positive impact in regards to the issues surrounding
bullying and cyberbullying in their own school environment and community. Must
possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Obtain a written recommendation from a
member of the faculty or staff at their school. Students may fill out the application at

can print the form from the website and mail. A one to two page essay is required
describing how your accomplishments relate to the mission of the Megan Meier
Foundation, a list of extracurricular acitvities, description of ways you have proactively
helped to lessen all forms of bullying within your school, a list of professional goals after
graduation from college, description of why you feel you are a deserving recipient for
this scholarship, and a list of any special circumstances you would like the Scholarship
Committee to consider when reviewing your application.

Hagen Scholarship
Eligibility: Must be a student in the 2015 graduating class and have attended as a junior
and senior an eligible high school with a 3.50 GPA and score 23 or higher on an ACT.
Family's EFC number on their FAFSA must be less than $7500. If awarded scholarship,
student must maintain a 4 year college graduation schedule, maintain a 3.0 GPA each
semester of college, must provide an annual report documenting progress towards those
personal goals submitted to the grant committee, and must attend mandatory workshops
intended to help recipients obtain a practical understanding of important life skills that
may not be taught as a part of the school curriculum. Each applicant must authenticate an
unmet financial need in order to attend college. Scholarship recipients will be selected
based upon character, academic ability, achievement in and out of school, and future
promise. The preferred recipient will be a high achieving student with meaningful work
or volunteer experience who aspires to obtain a college education in order to realize his
or her full potential. Recipients must work a minimum of 240 hours prior to the start of
each academic year of college. This scholarship is renewable up to 7 additional
semesters. In order to receive the scholarship, parents must also pay their FAFSA (free
application for federal student aid) EFC (expected family contribution), if any. Students

Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award
Eligibility: Over the past 2 years, a student must have completed a minimum of 50 hours
of volunteer work. Over the past 2 years, a student must have maintained a GPA of 3.5
or greater. Student must be under age 21 on the day of the deadline. Applications can be

Education Matters Scholarship
Eligibility: 13 years or older and be currently enrolled or plan to enroll no later than fall

2014 SWCS Scholarship Show-Me Chapter, Soil and Water Conservation Society
Eligibility: The student need not be a SWCS member. Applicants must be in their
senior year of high school or in a full-time undergraduate academic study. They must
major in a conservation or natural resource-related field such as soil science, land use
planning, forestry, wildlife management, fisheries, agricultural engineering, hydrology,
rural sociology, agronomy, water management, agricultural economics, biology,
agricultural education, or related environmental protection or resource management
curricula. Financial need will not be a factor in selection. A 3-5 page essay is required.
The theme is “Values of Conservation…Fostering Natural Resources Appreciation
through Research, Management, and Outreach”. Applications available at

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship
Eligibility: Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen. Applicant need not be related
to a member of the Elks. Male and female students compete separately. Applicants will
be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. An essay of no more than 500
words is required. Applications must advance through local, district and state
competitions to reach the national competition. Applications may be downloaded from

the Elks Lodge closest to the student's permanent U.S. address - see Mrs. Lucas.

Missouri Youth Pork Ambassador Program
Eligibility: Be a senior in high school up to a sophomore in college as of January 1st of
the year they will begin the program. Applicant must be involved in the pork industry or
the son/daughter of a parent or guardian involved in the pork industry (owner, operator or
allied industry). Must be a Missouri resident and have own transportation. Must
continue education at a technical school, community college or 4-year university. The
ambassador will be required to attend six events throughout the year and will be asked to
set up a booth promoting pork at the county fair. Candidates making it to round 2 will be
asked to have a personal interview. Visit

AXA Achievement Scholarship
Eligibility: Current high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited
college. Must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding
achievement in school, community or work-related activities. Special consideration will
be given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or
action in areas such as financial, environmental, health and/or emergency-preparedness.
Award: State Level - $10,000 (52), National Level - $25,000 (10) includes state award
Deadline: December 15th, only the first 10,000 applications will be accepted.
Burger King Scholars Program
Eligibility: Recipients are selected based on their gpa, work experience, extracurricular
activities and/or community service. Must have 2.5 cumulative gpa or higher and must
apply online. The first 50,000 applications will be processed. To apply, should use

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award
Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors who are entering their freshman year at an
accredited two- or four-year university, college, or vocational institute in the fall of 2015.
They must demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through having established a
business of their own. Scholarships are merit based, not on financial need. To apply and

Compass Mortgage Group Scholarship
Eligibility: Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on December 30, 2014. Student must
possess a GPA of 2.75 or greater and answer the following essay question: “If you could
choose anywhere in the world to buy a house, where would you choose and why? Please
make sure to take into consideration the cost of the house, how much your mortgage will
be, and what job you will have to support the costs of the mortgage and the rest of your

Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Scholarship
Eligibility: Be between the ages of 16 and 22 on December 30, 2014. Student must also

over the last 12 months.

Ed Stegner Natural Resource Scholarship

The National Wild Turkey Federation's Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors who have at least a 3.0 GPA and who support the preservation of the
hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports. A copy of current hunting
license is required. Students must hold a current NWTF membership, be involved in
school activities, demonstrate ability as a leader among peers, and demonstrate
community leadership and/or involvement. Students must submit an essay exhibiting
dedication to conservation and three letters of recommendation. For an application,

Eligibility: Open to high school students in grades 9-12. Write an essay (700-1000

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Eligibility: Demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the
attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship; demonstrate strong academic
performance (minimum 3.0 GPA; demonstrate financial need; be citizen of U.S.; be high
school senior; and plan to enroll in a full-time course of study toward a bachelor's degree

I Have A Dream Scholarship

about?” Whether it’s some bizarre dream you had last week or your hopes for the future,

Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship
Eligibility: Senior who will be attending a Missouri college or university and will be
pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. Must be in good standing with their school, have a
good reference from their school counselor, demonstrate financial need, have at least a
2.0 GPA, and be active in extra-curricular activities. A paragraph detailing the student’s
goals ten years after high school graduation is also required. Applications are available at

ESA Foundation Epsilon Sigma Alpha
Epsilon Sigma Alpha International is a philanthropic service organization. The Epsilon
Sigma Alpha Foundation is a non-profit/tax exempt organization which operates
exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. To access these scholarships, visit
http://www.epsilonsigmaalpha.org/scholarships-and-grants. Select “state of residency”
from the drop-down box, and then click “search scholarships”. There are a total of 43
Missouri scholarships. There is no scholarship application limit. Students may be
awarded more than one scholarship.
Eligibility: Available for 4-year colleges, community colleges, trade schools and
graduate degrees. The age range for recipients is 15 – 55 years old. You do not have to
be a high school senior to apply. Students may apply for as many scholarships as they
meet the criteria, but there is a $5 processing fee for every scholarship. Many of them
have specific requirements to be eligible.

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program
Eligibility: Seniors enrolling in a public or university within their state of residence and
pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Must also have a 2.75 GPA and demonstrate financial

Frame My Future Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors planning to attend a U.S. college or university for the 2015-2016
academic year. Students show how they want to “Frame” their future by submitting an
original creative image – photograph, collage, poem, drawing, painting, and more.
Entries are all submitted online only. Judging is based on original entry piece and

National Farmers Union Foundation Hubert K. and JoAnn Seymour Scholarship
Eligibility: Seniors who are continuing education in 2-yr or 4-yr college for any area of
study. Must be a Farmers Union member. Typed essay on the significance of rural values
in America and on your life is required. Possible phone interviews with finalists.

Cooper County Health Improvement Corporation Scholarship
Eligibility: Based on classroom achievement, pursuing a license, certification or degree
in the field of healthcare, reputation for good citizenship, acceptance into school or
training program, and desire to return to Cooper County to work upon completion of

Anthem Essay Contest
Eligibility: 8th, 9th, and 10th graders – essay must be between 600 and 1200 words.
Students must read the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, and will then choose one of three
given topics for their essay. Essay may be submitted online or mailed. If it is mailed, a

National Farmers Union Foundation Stanley Moore Scholarship
Eligibility: Open to Farmers Union members and their children, h.s. seniors, and college
students or non-traditional students seeking funding to attend 2 yr. or 4 yr. college or
technical school in any area of study. Written essay describing your personal and
professional goals and your involvement with Farmers Union is required. Applications

The American Legion Scholarships
Basic criteria for all: Resident of Missouri, under age 21, unmarried, and a descendent of
a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force,
Marines or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. A
photocopy of the veteran’s DD 214, discharge or separation notice must accompany the
scholarship application. Any additional requirements for each scholarship are below.

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship
Eligibility: Two awards will be given – one to a boy who has attended a full session of
The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the Department’s Cadet
Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended a full session of
The American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State program or a full session of the
Department’s Cadet Patrol Academy.
Award: $1000 (one for a boy and one for a girl)
M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund
Eligibility: One award given to a boy or girl training to be a registered nurse, and may
be used in their freshman or subsequent college years. The student must have graduated
in the top forty percent of their high school class or have a “C” or equivalent standing
from their last college or university semester.
Award: $750, payable at $375 per semester and may, by application, be extended for
two additional successive semesters.
Joseph J. Frank Scholarship
Eligibility: Five awards given to individuals who are descendants of a veteran.
Applicant must have attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State or The
American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program. Scholarship must be used for full time
attendance.
Award: $500 (5)
Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Two awards to individuals who are currently members of The American
Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or a
descendant of a member of any thereof. Recipient must use scholarship as a full time
student.
Award: $500 (2)
Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: Two awards to a student planning on obtaining a degree in education.
Recipient must use award as a full time student, and submit an essay of 500 words or less
on the following subject – In your opinion, what was the most significant world event of
2014/2015?
Award: $500 (2)
Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility: One award given based on financial need, participation in athletics,
participation in school activities/clubs, volunteer work, exceptional leadership qualities,
high moral standards and extreme patriotism. Only one student can be nominated from
our school. If interested in this scholarship, fill out the application and give to counselor.
Award: $500
Deadline to turn application in to guidance office is April 1st. This will allow time to
vote on which student’s application will be submitted
Peter Pasula Study Habits Scholarship
Eligibility: Be attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the fall of 2015.
Student can be enrolled at any level in any program that is two years in length or longer.
Students must answer the essay question on the website online application form.

AFSA Fire Sprinkler Essay Scholarship
Eligibility: Open to all high school seniors. Winners not based on financial need.
Applicants will be required to read an essay about automatic fire sprinklers and then take
a 10 question open-book, multiple-choice test. For each question answered correctly,
students will receive one entry into a drawing for the scholarship. Applications will only

The Fountainhead Essay Contest
Eligibility: Juniors and Seniors – no application required, just an essay. Essay must be
between 800 and 1600 words and double-spaced. Students must read the book The

will you draw upon your cultural heritage to shape your vocational aspirations, offer

Eligibility: All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they
