MEDIA ALERT Physical demolition of the last remaining public housing high-rise building at the former Blumeyer development starts today. WHAT: Demolition of the Blumeyer Family high-rise building located at 3501 Franklin Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63106 begins today and will take several more weeks to complete. The site will be re-graded for positive drainage and maintained as green space for recreational use by the community. May 2011, the St. Louis Housing Authority received a HOPE VI Revitalization Grant for the purpose of disposing the last remaining obsolete public housing building at Blumeyer which contained 143 units. New mixed-income communities, North Sarah I and II located off-site on North Sarah Street, provides 143 affordable units of 223, to residents in a new construction – multi-family housing units built as a mixed-income development using a combination of public and private funds.
