The Sayre City Council opened the proceedings with a public hearing, with five properties
subjected to dilapidation proceeding or public
nuisance.
Those properties include: Theo Ann Haney at
1303 N. Fourth Street, Kimberley Helker at 205
N. 12th Street, Anna B. and Teddy R. Ellis at 308
Fifth Street, Anna B. and Teddy R. Ellis at 311
North Fifth Street, and Donna Vermillion at 1101
North Second Street.
The City agenda began with a report from
the Beautification committee. Debbie Duncan
reported on the two projects with curb appeal.
Folks from the North Fork Correctional Facility
are helping to complete the next project.
Zane Sharum, told the Council that he has been
busy monitoring weeds and trash, along with several public nuisances.
City Manager Guy Hylton provided a lengthy
list of projects, including the City Pool which
has been repaired with piping and they have also
replaced the deck. The concrete parking at the
Chamber of Commerce location is finished. The
Operating Suite was held up, but the dirt work is
done. At the Park, the tennis courts have been
painted. The Watts Street is at a snail’s pace. The
former Harts’s Variety Store is being updated so
that a tenant can find a much larger space for their
company.

Dannie Sanders reports that a faulty heater was to blame. The Center had just opened a few weeks
ago. City Manager Guy Hylton says that the CAC will be rebuilt. Most of the damage was in the

Six skeletons found in two decades-old cars
pulled from the muddy depths of an Oklahoma
lake appear to match the descriptions of six
people who went missing in separate incidents
in 1969 and 1970, officials said.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol found the
cars in September while testing out new sonar
equipment in Foss Lake in western Oklahoma.
Divers hauled a 1969 Camaro and a 1952
Chevrolet from the lake, and found three skeletons inside each.
State medical examiners said that the blue
Camero matched the description of one that
belonged to 16-year-old Jimmy Williams, of
Sayre, who vanished with friends Thomas
Rios and Leah Johnson, both 18, on Nov. 20,
1970.
The 1952 green Chevy was the same make
as a one owned by John Alva Porter, 69, who
went missing along with Cleburn Hammack,
42, and Nora Marie Duncan, 58, on April 8,
1969.

Family Moving On
Gary Williams and his family are making arrangements for a Memorial Service for his brother, Jimmy. Tentative plans are to have the service
on November 20, which coincides with the 44
years that Jimmy and his friends went missing.
Gary has worked with authorities to try and
find the truth of why the teens died on that fateful
night in 1970.
Scripture of the day...
““Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not
a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who
in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with
confidence draw near to throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find
grace to help in time of need.” -- Hebrews 4:14-16
