U The Guardian Angel Gazette November 2014 On October 9, 2014 a record crowd made their way to St Georges Orthodox Cathedral the venue for the 8th Annual Food and Wine Fest. This years event was in honor of the V. Rev. Fr. Nicholas Apostola for his 20 years of dedication, devotion and service to EOMC and Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Fun, music, and fellowship may be important to our annual Holy Trinity Food and Wine Fest but if you’re a foodie, the most important thing was the food, and this year’s event did not disappoint! We hosted 23 restaurants, 7 wineries and breweries and our very own Holy Trinity Dietary Department. The food offerings ranged from pizza, chicken, lamb, crab cakes, shrimp, grape leaves, spinach pie, humus, Greek yogurt and for your sweet tooth a variety of cakes, cookies, and assorted pastries. BUT to the taste buds of many the best bite of the night was the Seafood Pictured is Mary Phoenix with our Holy Trinity Cooks/Dietary Aides Angela Pawlowicz and Nadia Garabet In This Issue 8th Annual Food & Wine Fest Lasagna and the Stuffed Pepper Soup (see page 5 for recipes) prepared and served by the Holy Trinity Food Service Team. In a quote from Jim Divver, Executive Director, to our Director of Dietary Services Dianne Buckley: “Just a note to say how marvelous your staff was and delicious the seafood lasagna dish was. Everyone raved about it and in my "unbiased" opinion it was a better dish than many of the outstanding restaurants presented . Kudos to HTNR food service.” OASIS Presentation We want to say thank you to Erica Bell – Cook Supervisor, Nadia Garabet, Angela Pawlowicz It’s A Girl and the entire Dietary Team for preparing and proudly representing Holy Trinity at this important Residents Facetime & Skype Contributors Corner— Culture Night What’ Cooking Do we Know What We Do Fun at Work Congratulations to our Employee’s Sheriff Lewis Evangelidis fund raising event. It focuses on strengths, wants, needs, and personal goals. Both philosophies are in sync with one another Pauline shared our journey on how we began: as we explored decentralized dining, went from tray service to Decentralized Pauline then shared on how our Journey continues with informed choice, Quality of Care Meeting, Narrative Care Plan, Oasis and Hand in Hand Training and the 2013 Creation of Resident Directed Care Policy. This month we traveled to Italy and explored the history and art work of the Sistine Chapel and even took a quick virtual tour of the actual building! The journey continued as we toured through the open markets in Palermo Sicily, and traveled to Rome to Learn about the sculpture "The Mouth of Truth". The tour was of course enjoyed with a slice of pizza and a glass of wine! At the end of the presentation, residents shared their own personal memories of Italy, and remembered fondly of its beauty. The tour was presented using the latest technology to give as realistic a tour as possible. We tried to bring Italy to Holy Trinity for a night and it was so fun to do so!
