The new state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2008, features new grandstands, bringing the seating capacity to 2,500, enabling MSU to host conference and national tournaments. In addition, the site was reconfigured to provide for a competitive playing field, along with a new press box and practice field. Nestled between Jenison Field House and the Red Cedar River, the DeMartin Soccer Complex is part of Old College Field, MSU’s oldest athletic facility still in continuous use. Since its purchase in 1900 for $1,137.50, Old College Field has been the site of Spartan baseball. Throughout the years, several teams have enjoyed use of the complex, including the football team, which competed there from 1902-22. Today, Old College Field is home for the Spartan soccer, softball and baseball teams. Both the men’s and women’s soccer programs have enjoyed great success on the banks of the Red Cedar, winning 67 percent of their games at Old College Field. Recently, the complex has been the site for six NCAA Tournament contests, with the most recent a men’s first round match in November of 2010. The “New Life For Old College Field” project began in 2006 and was conceived to upgrade Old College Field to a firstclass facility for MSU teams and fans. One year into the project, the project raised almost $3 million, including a gift of $750,000 from the DeMartin family of Summitt, N.J., to renovate Old College Field’s soccer stadium. The gift, received by MSU in January of 2007, was the largest ever given to an Olympic sport at Michigan State and directly supported the renovation of the soccer facility. 2 0 1 4 M E N ’ S S O C C E R PRONUNCIATION GUIDE: McAnaney - MAC-ah-nay-nee Asa - AH-sa Fiscus - FIHS-kuss Rutz - rhymes with CUTS Kreutz - KROYTS Piwinski - puh-WIN-ski Centala - sen-TAH-lah Skamiera - ska-MARE-ah Marcantognini - mar-CAN-tohnee-nee Krolicki - crow-LICK-ee Herr - HER Cristobal - KRIS-toe-ball Montague - MON-tah-gyoo Fatai Alashe - fa-TIE ah-LAHSH-ay Scheib - SHIBE Alumbaugh - AL-um-baw Hague - HAYG BREAKDOWN BY CLASS Freshman (10): Ryan Scott, Jimmy Fiscus, Brad Centala, Michael Marcantognini, Ali Scheib, Brian Winterfield, Austin Piwinski, Ken Krolicki, Jimmy Hague, Philip Stair Sophomores (3): Andrew Herr, Dewey Lewis, Jerome Cristobal Juniors (7): Quinn McAnaney, Zach Bennett, Zach Carroll, Jay Chapman, Asa Miller, Jason Stacy, Brian Alumbaugh Seniors (8): Tim Kreutz, Ben Myers, Josh Barens, Ryan Keener, Adam Montague, Kyle Rutz, Blake Skamiera, Fatai Alashe BREAKDOWN BY POSITION Goalkeepers (4): Quinn McAnaney, Zach Bennett, Jimmy Hague, Philip Stair Forwards (4): Tim Kreutz, Adam Montague, Ali Scheib, Blake Skamiera Midfielders (11): Ben Myers, Michael Marcantognini, Jay Chapman, Andrew Herr, Dewey Lewis, Asa Miller, Kyle Rutz, Brian Winterfield, Jason Stacy, Ken Krolicki, Fatai Alashe Defenders (9): Ryan Scott, Jimmy Fiscus, Zach Carroll, Josh Barens, Brad Centala, Ryan Keener, Austin Piwinski, Jerome Cristobal, Brian Alumbaugh M S U S P A R TA N S .
