with reverence and enthusiasm, providing stewardship for the gifts God has committed to
our care, and celebrating together as a Christian family.

obligation this year, owing to the 1992 decision of
the USCCB abrogating the precept to attend Mass
when Nov. 1st falls on a Saturday or Monday.”

Father Francis called the Parish Office this past week to let us know that
he arrived safely in Kenya. He sends a
thank you for your prayers for his safe
journey and said that he misses
everyone. He is having a wonderful and relaxing vacation visiting with his family.
St. Mary’s Blood Drive is scheduled for
Sunday, November 9th from 8:30 am until
1:00 pm in Vandegaer Hall. Please give

day at Our Lady of Sorrows Retreat Center (103 Railroad Ave., St. Martinville) on Saturday, November 29

The women of the ELCA—St. Stephen Lutheran
Church, 8400 Kingston Road invite you to their annual
Christmas Bake Sale and Bazaar on Sat., Nov. 1st . It
will be held from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm in the fellowship hall of the church.
All are invited to an organ concert at the Cathedral.
Internationally renowned organist David Briggs will perform the organ concert on Nov. 11th at 6:30 pm in the
Cathedral of St. John Berchmans. Admission to the

PRAYERS and SQUARES
The ladies from Prayers and Squares
are selling raffle tickets for a beautiful
Queen Size Homemade Quilt. Tickets are only a $1.00
each and can be purchased from any member of Prayers & Squares or from the Parish Office. Drawing will be
held after the 9:00 am Mass on November 23.

The Church seeks to help the faithful departed, especially those souls
in purgatory, by earnest prayer to
God, and in particular, by remembrance of them on All
Souls Day and throughout the month of November. Our
priests and deacons will offer prayers at our local cemeteries on the weekends closer to All Souls Day, our
annual commemoration of the faithful departed.
