INTRODUCTION:
Developing countries like Tanzania are facing challenges of improving the management of
their natural resources in order to enhance economic growth so as to maximize economic
development and alleviate poverty. These challenges are increased by continuing
discovery of oil and gas which add to the basket of resources. Understanding those
challenges, this conference aims to provide a platform for researchers, academics, scholars
and practitioners to debate the role of accounting and finance in management of natural
resources which include items such as oil, gas, environment, mining, forest etc. The
conference provides a unique international forum and an opportunity for researchers,
policy makers and business community, to exchange views, share experiences and
disseminate research findings and practical lessons on management of natural resources.
Given the role of management in ensuring that oil and gas industry in Tanzania is a
successful endeavor, the 1 st edition of ICNRAF carries the theme of “Business
Accounting and Financial Management Challenges and Opportunities in Oil and Gas
Industry in Emerging Economies”. Therefore, paper to be considered for this conference
should focus but not limited to the following sub-themes:
 Financial Accounting in Oil and Gas
 Management Accounting in Oil and Gas
 Taxation Theories and Practices in Oil and Gas
 Auditing Practices in Oil and Gas Projects/Companies
 Investment and Financing of Oil and Gas Projects
 Environmental Accounting and Management Reporting for Oil and Gas
 Business Ethical Issues in Oil and Gas
 Academic/Industry Linkages in Oil and Gas
 Contemporary Business Issues Relating to Oil and Gas


SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS
Abstracts and papers are invited from various institutions and individuals including academia,
policy makers, business community, public and private sector organizations, NonGovernmental Organizations, development partners, and international organizations.

and papers shall be electronically submitted through the following link
https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icnraf2014. Authors will need to create an
account, log in and submit their abstracts and papers.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. The papers must be original and have not been previously accepted in a journal for
publication. Submitted papers will be peer reviewed and feedback will be given within two
weeks after receiving your paper. Upon acceptance, the author should effect changes (if any)
and return an electronic version of the paper in Microsoft Word, via the link provided
above. Good articles will be selected and subjected to peer review for publication in the
journal of African Accounting Review (to be launched in 2015), Business Management
Review (hosted by UDBS) and African Journal of Financial Management (hosted by IFM);
2. The paper must be written in English and the length should be in the range of 5000-6000
words (excluding references and appendices). The abstract (maximum of 150 words) and a
maximum of 5 keywords;
3. The paper should be in the following order: Title of the paper, author(s) name(s) and titles
(e.g. Dr., Miss, Professor), institutional affiliations (with complete mailing addresses, e-mail
address(es), telephone and Fax Numbers (of the contacting author), abstract, keywords,
main text (including figures and tables), acknowledgement, reference and appendix(if any);
and
4. Text should be single-spaced, 10 font size for abstract and 12 font size for main text,
Font type should be Times New Roman font.
CONFERENCE FEES
The registration fee is US $ 300 for participants. The registration fee for students is US $ 100
for early registration (before 1st November, 2014) and US $ 150 for late registration (1st -21st
November, 2014). All interested participants are required to be registered by paying relevant fees on
or before 21st November, 2014 through UDSM Department of Accounting, Account Number
040103000791, National Bank of Commerce (NBC), Mlimani Branch. No registration will be
allowed thereafter. Registration Fees covers conference materials, lunch and refreshments for
the conference days. Participants will meet their own transport and accommodation expenses.
