ANNOUNCEMENTS
We welcome Harold “Pete” Campbell to our pulpit
today. It’s good to have him back again as it’s been
quite a while since he has been with us. He became
ordained in the Church of the Brethren and is now
with the Baptist Church.
The November sign-up sheet for Lay Readers & Ushers has
been placed on the back table. Thanks so much for your
help.
The annual Ethiopian Banquet will be held on
November 14 at Covenant Presbyterian. Registration and
silent auction are at 5:30, dinner at 6:30, and guest
speaker at 7:30. The cost is $16.50 prepaid and $18 at
the door. Food will be provided by the Blue Nile Restaurant in
Harrisonburg. You may see Sue Gochenour or Nancy Swisher to
register as a group with the Mission Committee, or you may pick up a
registration form on the table in the coat room. YOU MUST MAIL
THE FORM BY Friday, October 31st in order to pre-register.
The Staunton CROP HUNGER WALK is being held today at 2:00
p.m. Walk registration by group will start at 1:30 p.m. The Walk is for
kids, teens, singles, parents, and grandparents too! Our Walk will start
from Central United Methodist Church parking lot in downtown
Staunton and we will walk down Lewis St. and Churchville Ave. around
the park and back. Locally, this event is to help Staunton Augusta
Church Relief Association – SACRA (25% of the total money collected
will be given to SACRA) and other hunger fighting initiatives of Church
World Service in countries worldwide. If you would like to join us
today, meet us in the parking lot across the street before 2:00 p.m.
Please give donations to Kathy Holsinger or drop them in the mail slot
of the office door before you leave church today. Make checks payable
to CWS/CROP and, of course, cash is accepted as well.
This is a reminder that Daylight Savings Time will be
ending and Standard Time will be returning next Sunday,
November 2nd.
 PW will decorate the Communion Table as a
harvest table on Saturday, November 1st at 11:00
a.m. We welcome contributions of natural
decorations such as pumpkins or gourds. Please place them on
the Patio table.
 November 2-26 – PW will be collecting canned goods for Valley
Mission. Please bring your donations of food that is canned or
boxed and non-perishable.
 November 2-26 – Snacks will be collected for college students.
Boxes are in the kitchen.
 Friday, November 28th at 10:00 a.m. – clear Communion Table
Calling all amateur actors! The Christmas play has
been selected and I am ready to begin preparations for
another great family event at Second Presbyterian. The
date is Sunday evening, December 7th immediately
following the Family Night Supper. Away from the
Manger will be a humorous look at those who avoided
