01. Introduction
Post PG Fellowship in Neonatology aims at improving the quality of doctors working
in Neonatology department. In the present era of scientific and technological advancement,
of specialization and super-specialization, doctors also need to update their knowledge and
skill so as to provide cost effective quality care to patients in different specialty areas.
Post PG Fellowship in Neonatology has been planned, in order to prepare the
qualified doctors to function effectively in neonatal intensive care units. . This is also
necessary to improve the professional standards by providing quality care of patients as per
Standard Operation Procedures.
02. Goal
The goal of Neonatology fellowship programme is to provide specialized training in
Neonatology to produce competency in all the various fields of medical management of
neonates, by obtaining specialized training in institutions that have specialized Neonatology
Departments with a tertiary Level Care Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Over a stipulated
period of one year or one and half years, these specialists will be capable of providing
subsequent such care of neonates in the community as well as inneonatal tertiary care
centers. They shall recognize the health needs of the community and carry out professional
obligations ethically and in keeping with the objectives of the Neonatal Health Policy.
03. Objectives
After completing the Neonatology fellowship course the trainee will be able to
1. Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary care to all; new born infants including
intensive care of high standard to the critically sick neonates and very low birth weight
babies using advanced therapeutic and supportive modalities and skills.
2. The trainee will implement a comprehensive follow up and early intervention
programme for the “At Risk” newborn infants and plan, counsel and advice rehabilitation of the
neurodevelopmentally and physically challenged infants

3. The trainee will be able to seek and analyze new literature and information of
Neonatology, update concepts and practice evidence based neonatology. The trainee will be able
to demonstrate adequate managerial skills.
4. The trainee will participate in the community programmes and at the secondary
level of health system and play a significant role in neonatal health care.
5. He/ She should work as a productive member of the interdisciplinary team
consisting of obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, other doctors, nurses and grass
root functionaries providing care to the pregnant mother, the fetus and new born in any
setting of health care system.
04. Syllabus
The Syllabus of course content, teaching, learning methods and activities of the
programme are designed keeping in mind the guide lines issued by the National Neonatology
Forum and the Neonatology Chapter of Indian Academy of Paediatrics. Evaluation will be
formative and summative. Formative evaluation includes ward work, case presentation, PG
Lecture, journal club, internal assessment, and general assessment of attitude. Summative
evaluation consists of Research Project and Final examination.

1. Theory Examination:

06. Seats
The total intake approved by IAP (Neonatology Chapter of Indian „Academy of
Pediatricians” and NNF (National Neonatology Forum) - 4 seats per year
07. Duration of the course
The duration of the course shall be one year for the candidates with M.D. / D.N.B. and
1.5 years for the candidates with D.C.H.
08. Academic Eligibility
Applicant should have passed either M.D. /D.N.B. /D.C.H. course in Paediatrics from a
recognized Medical College/Institution and should have obtained Medical Council
Registration from the Medical Council of India or from any of the State Council.

The applicant shall download the application form
together with the prospectus. The application should be filled in own handwriting and the
same should be sent to The Admission Office, Jubilee Mission Medical College
Hospital,
Jubilee Mission P.O., Thrissur East-680 005. OR the same may be directly
handed over to the Office Superintendent, Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research
Institute, Thrissur.
The following self-attested of documents should be enclosed with the
application form. A D/D for Rs. 1500.00 in favour of The Director, Jubilee Mission Hospital
payable at Thrissur towards the cost of application form should also be enclosed.

10. Documents to be submitted along with the application
Applicant shall submit, along with their application, self-attested photocopies of the
following documents:
1. SSLC certificate
2. Mark list of Plus Two / Equivalent examination
3. Pass certificate of MBBS Exam
4. Pass certificate of PG Exam (M.D. / D.N.B. / D.C.H.)
5. Registration certificate of MBBS & PG issued by Indian Medical Council / respective
State Medical Council
6. Experience certificate in neonatology, if any
Applications submitted should be complete in all respects. Late or incomplete
applications or those not accompanied by relevant documents will stand rejected without
further intimation.
Candidates are instructed not to enclose any original certificates along with the
application.
11. Last Date of Application
The completed application forms along with relevant enclosures should reach The
Admission Office, Jubilee Mission Medical College Hospital, Jubilee Mission
th December, 2013, 03:00 pm.
P.O., East Fort, Thrissur-680 005 on or before 15

Completed Applications can be submitted by Regd. Post/Speed Post with A/D, so as to reach the
office before the last date notified for the receipt of the same. The college will not be
responsible for any delayed delivery.
12. Selection Criteria
The selection of the eligible candidate will be based on the marks obtained in the
qualifying exam and/or interview held.
13. Admission
Selected candidates are required to complete the admission formalities within the
specified date. They should pay the required fees at the time of admission and the originals of
the following certificates shall be submitted for verification. One set of all the following
documents attested by a gazette officer shall be submitted at the time of admission:

If a student discontinues the course after the commencement of the course, they will not
be eligible to get the refund of the remitted fee except caution deposit. And they are required

The students have to wear white overcoat.
17. Registration
a. IAP Fellowship:
The selected candidates will have to fill up the registration forms as per the guide
lines and shall send the same to IAP Neonatology Chapter Office in New Delhi along with a
draft for Rs. 15,500.00 drawn in favour of IAP Neonatology Chapter
b) NNF Fellowship:
The selected candidates will have to fill up the registration forms as per the guide
lines and shall send the same to National Neonatology Forum Office in Delhi along with the
payment D/D. for Rs. 10,000 (Registration Rs.5000/- and Membership Rs.5000/-)

18. Minimum Requirement for Council Examination
The students should have a minimum of 80% of attendance both in theory and
practical.
Students should make up 100% attendance for integrated practical experience and
internship in term of hours and activities before awarding the certificate.
19. Code of Conduct
Every student is required to adhere strictly to the code of conduct of the college and
hospital.
20. Preventive measures against ragging
According to the Kerala prohibition of ragging Act 1998: “Ragging” means doing any act by
disorderly conduct to a student of an educational institution, which causes or is likely to cause
physical or psychological harm or raising apprehension or embarrassment to that student and
includes teasing, or abusing or playing practical jokes or causing hurt to such students or asking a
student to do any act or to perform something which such student will not in ordinary course be
willing to do.
The Act makes ragging an offence. The punishment is imprisonment for a term up to two
years and a fine up to ten thousand rupees to those convicted of committing, participating in, abetting or
propagating ragging within or outside any educational institution.
The Act mandates dismissal of any student convicted under it from educational institution.
Such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a term of three years from the
date of order of such dismissal
On receipt of complaint of ragging, the Head of Educational Institution can suspend the
accused student and is duty bound to enquire into the matter within seven days.
