Sunday School
Sunday School is offered for all ages between our 9:00
am and 11:00 am worship services from 10:10 am to
10:55 am. The classes are designed to be age appropriate so that we all can deepen our faith in Jesus Christ.
Holy Eucharist/Communion
Holy Eucharist, also known as Communion, is open
to all of the baptized of all denominations. The
Episcopal Church has an open table and you are
invited to participate as you feel comfortable. The
ushers will direct you forward to receive the sacrament. To receive the Eucharist, place your right
palm over your left and you will be given the Bread;
the Wine will be offered and you may guide the chalice
to your lips. If you prefer not to drink from it, leave the
wafer on your palm and the chalice bearer will dip it
in the cup and place it in your mouth. If you wish to
receive a Blessing in lieu of the Elements, simply cross
your arms over your chest.
Children and Nursery Care
We love children and we invite them to worship with
us. We also offer a professionally staffed nursery for all
children up through 7 years old from 8:45am to 12:30pm.
The nursery is located in the Education Building past the
reception desk.
Cell Phones
Please, turn your cell phones off so that they do not
disturb you or those around you during worship.
Gluten Free communion wafers are available at the Lectern Communion Station.
Gluten Free emblems are available in the
Narthex so that you can identify yourself
to the person administering communion at
that station. These wafers are made from
rice and soy.

Yesterday was the feast of Sts. Crispin and Crispinian.
Although the feast day is no longer listed on the Catholic calendar and was never listed on the Episcopal calendar, the feast remains on the Anglican calendar of
saints. This may be because the English victory over
the French army at the Battle of Agincourt occurred
on St. Crispin’s day; an event immortalized by Shakespeare in Henry V. Crispin and Crispinian, the patron
saints of cobblers and leather workers, were twin brothers born to Roman nobility in the third century. They
fled Christian persecution to Soissons, France (the site
of their major shrine), where they preached Christianity while making shoes at night. Their success angered
the regional governor who tortured them and threw
them into a river with millstones round their necks.
Though they survived, they were later beheaded. Sts.
Crispin and Crispinian are intimately linked to our diocese, since the recognition of the Diocese of Oklahoma
as a mission in Indian Territory and later as a diocese
occurred around their feast day. Our Diocesan seal
portrays a shoemaker’s awl and leather knife, emblems
of the brothers. Our Diocesan Convention Center and
camp is named in their honor.
The Cathedral Choir sings a standard anthem from the
English Tudor repertoire, “Lord, for thy tender mercies’ sake.” The music has been attributed to several
composers, including Richard Farrant and John Hilton.

O God, our help in ages past- Hymnal 680
This text by Isaac Watts is probably not only his bestknown work, but one of his finest. A masterful paraphrase of Psalm 90:1-5, it can be found in practically
every English-language hymnal around the world. Its
matching with this tune occurred early in the 19th century. The authorship of this famous tune has long been
disputed. Although it cannot be established with absolute certainty, there is now little room for doubt that it
was composed by Dr. William Croft, organist of the
Chapel Royal and Westminster Abbey and the leading
composer during Queen Anne’s reign.

A Reading from the Book of Deuteronomy.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
or the land and the earth were born,
from age to age you are God.
Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo,
to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho, and the
LORD showed him the whole land: Gilead as far as Dan,
all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the
land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, the Negeb, and
the Plain-- that is, the valley of Jericho, the city of palm
trees-- as far as Zoar. The LORD said to him, “This is
the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob, saying, `I will give it to your descendants’; I have
let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over
there.” Then Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there

The Frank Dennis Memorial Labyrinth, an 11-circuit Chartres style canvas labyrinth, will be set up
in Dean Willey Hall for both guided and self-directed walks the first Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
of each month beginning Sunday, November 2nd.

to know more about the 12-Steps and/or those currently participating in any 12-Step group. The
labyrinth walks will begin with a short talk on one of the 12 Steps of Recovery.

Who was Jesus? Society debates whether or not Jesus
was a prophet, a teacher or God incarnate. Zealot: the
Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth is a look into the
historical account of Jesus and his works. We will explore interesting but controversial account of the life of
Jesus over four weeks to better understand his words and
