t All but one Top-25 team (Sports Network poll) is in action this week (No. 10 Montana State is idle). Two
games this week feature ranked teams playing one another (both games are in the Missouri Valley).
t The Sports Network updated its Buck Buchanan Watch List with four new players, including Villanova’s Don
Cherry, Southeastern Louisiana’s Isiah Corbett, Cal Poly’s Nick Dzubnar and Sacramento State’s Darnell Sankey.
t Three new teams are in the Top 25 this week, including Sacred Heart (both polls), Albany (Sports Network)
and Bryant (FCS Coaches). Just four unbeaten teams remain: North Dakota State, Coastal Carolina, Illinois
State and Harvard. They join 4 FBS perfect teams: Florida State, Ole Miss, Marshall and Mississippi State.
BIG SKY -- Idaho State heads to Northern Colorado looking to snap a 48-game road
losing streak that dates back to a 2006 win over Northern Colorado. Idaho State
earned its second league victory and fourth win of the season last week, downing
Southern Utah 56-28. Idaho State now has multiple conference wins for the first
time since 2007, and has won more than three games in a season for the first time since 2005. Idaho State leads
the nation in passing offense at 367.3 yards per game and is second in total offense at 569.7 yards per game.
This week’s slate of five conference games features No. 6 Montana traveling to Cal Poly. Montana has won three
straight games and is one of three undefeated teams in conference play. Cal Poly has won three in a row and
sits a 3-1 in conference and 4-3 overall. The Mustangs are 2-0 at home this season.
No. 2 Eastern Washington will square off against Northern Arizona at the Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff on Saturday. It will mark the first meeting between the Big Sky teams since 2011. Eastern Washington is 2-0 without
starting QB Vernon Adams Jr., and has won five consecutive games since losing 59-52 to Washington.
BIG SOUTH -- Presbyterian College defeated its second nationally-ranked opponent
this season with its 7-3 victory at No. 22/23 Charleston Southern, a first in the program’s Division I history. PC is 3-1 against FCS competition this year and is holding
FCS foes to an average of 16.0 points per game.
Gardner-Webb WR Kenny Cook set the Big South single-game receiving record with 251 yards at VMI. The
old record was 240 by Liberty’s Chris Summers against Stony Brook on Nov. 19, 2011. Gardner-Webb QB Lucas
Beatty’s 430 passing yards against the Keydets broke the Big South single-game record of 419, which was set by
Charleston Southern’s Collin Drafts against Allen on Nov. 6, 2004.

Monmouth, which received votes in this week’s Sports Network Top 25 poll for the first time in program history,
plays its first official Big South game Saturday at Presbyterian. With Monmouth’s inclusion in the voting, all six
Big South teams have either been ranked or received votes in one or both national polls at some point this season.
CAA FOOTBALL -- CAA Football plays its final 3 non-conference games of 2014 this
weekend (James Madison vs. Charlotte, Albany vs. Colgate and Villanova vs. Morgan
State). CAA Football is 21-10 vs. non-conference FCS opponents in 2014.
CAA Football had five players earn national awards in week 8. Villanova QB John
Robertson was selected as a College Sporting News All-Star, while Albany PK Patrick Toole, Albany LB Christian Dorsey, Delaware P Eric Enderson and William & Mary WR/KR Tre McBride were CFPA Top Performers.
Stony Brook continues to lead the FCS in total defense, allowing just 220.5 yards per game. The Seawolves have
held their last three opponents to a combined total of 13 points.
IVY LEAGUE -- Harvard is just one of four remaining undefeated FCS teams
(Coastal Carolina, Illinois State and North Dakota State) and one of eight Division I
teams (Florida State, Marshall, Ole Miss and Mississippi State) in the country.
Continuing the scoring trend from last year, Ivy League teams are producing points
aplenty as the League moves past its midway point.
Yale has scored 31 points or more in every game so far this season. The last time a Bulldog squad did that in
five games was 1892. Yale has put up 230 points for an FCS-best 46.0 points per game. This is the most prolific
scoring half of a season since the 1888 Elis racked up a full-year total of 698 points.
Princeton has won six-straight home games dating back to last season, including four when it scored at least
50 points. This season, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 39-3 in the first quarter en route to wins of
56-17 over Davidson and 27-16 over Brown.
MEAC -- Florida A&M QB Damien Fleming connected on 16 of 23 passes (70.0%) for 164 yards with two touchdowns in a 31-28 victory over
Howard. He also rushed for 38 yards on 12 attempts with another two TDs in the win to earn the league’s Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Cody Jones was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goals as he connected on kicks of 32, 28, 29 and 43 yards out. He also nailed 3-of-3 extra point attempts and punted four times for an average of 53.2 yards per kick including one inside the 20 yard line. His longest punt went 62 yards.
Bethune-Cookman continues to lead the way in the national polls for the conference. They rank NO. 22 in this week’s GPI but are No. 13 in the FCS Coaches poll.
MISSOURI VALLEY -- For the second-straight week Illinois State won a game with a field goal on the last play from scrimmage, this time a 3734 victory at Western Illinois. The Redbirds tied a school record by coming back from 21 points down in the third quarter to win the game.
The league has played 10 games this year in which both teams have been ranked in the Top 25 -- that includes 2 games this Saturday.
TE MyCole Pruitt of Southern Illinois leads all active Division I tight ends in career receiving yards and receptions. He’s the only tight end in MVFC history to eclipse
2,000 receiving yards -- he has 2,368 and ranks 10th all-time in league history (behind 9 WRs on the list).
NEC -- Two years removed from a 2-9 season, Sacred Heart has finally broken into the Top 25. The Pioneers earned the No. 24 spot in the
Sports Network Poll and are No. 22 in the Coaches’ edition. Bryant joined Sacred Heart in the Coaches’ Poll. With the Bulldogs earning the No.
25 ranking, the NEC has two Top 25 teams in the same week for the first time in league history.
Sacred Heart (6-1) will host Saint Francis and the nation’s leading rusher – Khairi Dickson – in the #NECFB Game of the Week on ESPN3.
Two milestones were met during Robert Morris’ 27-24 comeback win over Central Connecticut – RMU head coach John Banaszak earned his first career victory while
CCSU’s Rob Hollomon, a Walter Payton Award candidate, became the Blue Devils’ all-time rushing leader (3,430).
OHIO VALLEY -- Austin Peay finally picked up its first win under second-year head coach Kirby Cannon and ended the longest losing streak
in Division I (FBS or FCS) with a 20-13 win over rival Murray State. Freshman QB Mickey Macius threw three TDs to freshman Jared Beard.
It snapped an 18-game losing streak dating back to the first game of 2013; it was the first win since the team topped Tennessee Tech 38-31 on
Nov. 17, 2012 in the final game of the 2012 campaign.
Tennessee Tech senior Marty Jones tied the OVC single-game record for interceptions when he picked off four passes (including two in the
final 1:07 of the game) in a victory over No. 12 Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 18. He now shares the record with five other players, the last achieving the feat in 1986. The four
interceptions are the most by a Division I player (FBS or FCS) this season. Jones also added a game-high 12 tackles and ran in a two-point conversion when he picked up
a low snap and rushed to the end zone with 3:41 to play in the fourth quarter to give Tech a 32-31 lead and proved to be the game-winner. He earned National Defensive
Player of the Week honors for his efforts. Jones is the fourth OVC player this season, and third in as many weeks, to be named National Defensive Player of the Week.
PATRIOT – The race for the 2014 Patriot League title kicks into full gear with three games on Saturday, the first of five consecutive weeks with
three League contests to conclude the regular season. No. 12 Fordham plays at Lehigh at 12:30 p.m., Bucknell goes to Georgetown at 2 p.m. and
Holy Cross visits Lafayette at 3:30 p.m.
Fordham and Bucknell are both undefeated in Patriot League play, but have some history to change on Saturday. The Rams have never won in
12 visits to Lehigh, while the Bison have not started 2-0 in the Patriot League since 2003.
Lafayette concludes its home schedule on Saturday against Holy Cross as the Leopards look for a perfect mark at Fisher Stadium in 2014. The Leopards join Fordham,
Colgate and Bucknell as Patriot League squads with perfect home records in 2014, with the quartet combining for a 13-0 mark. Fordham’s 11-game home win streak
since the start of the 2013 season is tied for the second-longest run in FCS.

PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE -- Week 9’s feature matchup takes place on the West Coast when Dayton (3-0) travels to San Diego (3-1)
in a contest between the PFL’s preseason favorites. While that is the week’s nightcap, Saturday will start with PFL unbeaten Campbell (4-0)
traveling to Marist, seeking to match Jacksonville’s 5-0 PFL start.
For the third time in 2014, Dayton RB Connor Kacsor ran for more than 200 yards, recording 232 yards against Morehead State. There have
been 15 200-yard performances in the FCS this season and Kacsor is the only back with three such performances and the only runner with a 300-yard effort this season.
Stetson S Donald Payne recorded 21 tackles vs. Jacksonville, becoming the first PFL defender with more than 20 tackles in over two years. He also became only the fifth
FCS tackler to top the 20-tackle mark in 2014. It was the best performance by a PFL defender since Davidson’s Patrick Moynahan had 22 vs. Marist on Sept. 22, 2012.
After eight weeks two PFL student-athletes lead the FCS in three categories. San Diego’s David Last leads the FCS in field goal percentage (1.000) and San Diego’s Jamal
Agnew leads the FCS in interceptions (0.80 pg) and in passes defended (2.6 pg). In addition, PFL student-athletes are listed 33 times among the Top 10 in 38 categories.
SOUTHERN -- VMI quarterback Al Cobb set a new school record with six touchdown passes in VMI’s double-overtime game against Gardner-Webb last week. Cobb also set a new school mark for most points responsible for (38).
Furman has not been shut out in 199 games, dating back to a 33-0 loss at Clemson in 1998. The Paladins’ streak is the longest active shutout
streak in the league.
Western Carolina has 99 all-time league wins as a member of the Southern Conference. With a win over The Citadel on Saturday the Catamounts would become the
10th program in league history to reach 100 conference wins.
SOUTHLAND -- Southeastern Louisiana claimed sole possession of first place with a win against Central Arkansas. The Lions have now won
14 straight against Southland competition and have eight consecutive at Strawberry Stadium against league foes.
Lamar senior quarterback Caleb Berry become the school’s all-time leader in completions (554), yards of total offense (6,357) and passing
yards (6,637)in the Cardinals’ 63-21 win over Nicholls. Berry is already the school’s all-time leader with 55 career touchdowns.
Nicholls’ senior RS Keenan Canty received national honor after recording 286 yards and a touchdown on special teams against Lamar. He had 203 yards on kick returns
with a long of 39 yards. Canty returned only one punt in the contest and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown, giving the Colonels their first punt return for a touchdown
since 2008. He is the third league player to be honored by The Sports Network for his play this season
This season in the Southland, there has been a player rush for 100 or more yards in a game 30 times. Nine of those occurred last weekend with Stephen F. Austin’s Gus
Johnson (116), Lamar’s Carl Harris (116) and Kade Harrington (123), McNeese State’s Daniel Sams (112) and Derrick Milton (107), Abilene Christian’s De’Andre Brown
(109), Sam Houston State’s Keshawn Hill (198), Southeastern Louisiana’s Bryan Bennett (131) and Houston Baptist’s B.J. Kelly (123).
SWAC -- The 73rd annual Magic City Classic takes place this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The matchup between in-state rivals Alabama A&M and
Alabama St. will be aired live on ESPN3 with a tape delayed showing on ESPNU at 9 p.m. There is a postgame concert by Bell Biv Devoe.
Grambling State remained the only undefeated team in the SWAC with a 63-39 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Since starting conference play,
the Tigers have won five straight with their defense leading the league in interceptions and sacks. Grambling is 5-0 with only two western
division games remaining.
