Family Arts Festival: Creative Wire Workshop

Fun and accessible wire sculpturing workshops. Artists from Faceless will lead participants to make
their own 40cm wire sculpture using brightly coloured aluminium wire.

All sculptures created will be collected together and displayed as part of a temporary art exhibition
during the festive season, before being returned to the participants in the New Year. Transported is
organising several events as part of the Family Arts Festival and The Big Draw this year.

Family Arts Festival: The Town Man of Breman

The Fabularium was founded in 2010, and consists of a band of musicians, acrobats, storytellers and
the odd puppet. They have worked on outdoor events, carnivals and processions.
The Town Band of Bremen is a new outdoor family show for 2014/2015, featuring live music, mask
work, and a medieval wagon. This is will be its first sharing in Lincolnshire and the full version of the
piece will be available for touring in 2015.
Meet the amazing-yet-mismatched musical family who are journeying to play the gig of a lifetime in
the land of the free, to become The Town Band of Breman. After a dreadful robbery that left their
Master penniless and without the means to tend to his animals, the band are now travelling from
place to place upon their old trusty cart, sharing stories and singing songs, with many a mishap along
the way!

Family Arts Festival: BLOM - October 28th 10am – 2pm
Blom is a sand writer. Its long arm, filled with white sand, draws ribbon patterns on the ground.
Once a pattern is completed, such as a flower, it moves on to the next one. Blom creates a colouring
book made out of sand – and alongside the drawings, small buckets with sand are provided for
spectators and children to colour them in as they wish. Blom offers a moment of creation that
sometimes stays for a long time, or on the other hand can vanish almost instantly. The sand can be
scattered by the weather, by humans, or animals, but always eventually disappears. How long will it
stay this time?

team of 3 workers as odd as the world they live in, must pull together and perform a series of
extraordinary tasks in an attempt to restart their ramshackle musical engine.

Vagabond’s Hat uses a quirky mix of high skill circus, slapstick comedy and innovative
music making, to weave together the uplifting, surreal, steampunk fairytale that is Kinesonic and we
are thrilled to be hosting the very first performances of this new tour.

For the twelfth time, the people of the great sausage county of Lincolnshire celebrate the world
famous Lincolnshire sausage in the Lincoln Castle grounds.
The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, in association with the Select Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County
Council and the Lincoln Business Improvement Group, are hosting the 12th Lincolnshire Sausage
Festival in Lincoln Castle and on Castle Hill.
During the day there will be cooking demonstrations, food stalls, the Redhill Farm Free Range Pork
Children's Marquee and live music.
Lincoln Castle and Castle Square itself will be filled with stalls selling all types of
produce and of course there will be an abundance of Lincolnshire Sausages on offer for
people to buy and eat on the day or to take away and enjoy at home.
Last year over 11,000 visited the Sausage Festival, buying more than 25,000 Lincolnshire sausages!

Sleaford Remembers WWI Digital Arts Project: Monday 27th October 3pm - 5pm
Throughout autumn 2014 the National Centre for Craft & Design is working in
partnership with local digital iPad artist, Jason Wilsher-Mills. Funded by Arts Council England, The
Sleaford Remembers project is part of the Centenary events, remembering those who fought in
WW1, and brings together theatre, music and a digital installation, along with nearly 1000 children
from 4 participating schools. It will culminate in a live performance at the NCCD on Tuesday 11
November 2014, where the children will perform with Rhubarb Theatre and folk musician, Morris
Minor, alongside the unveiling of the digital installation projected onto the outside of the NCCD, 70
feet high.
The community of Sleaford have the opportunity to contribute to this digital installation by working
with Jason in a series of 6 workshops at the NCCD. You will learn new skills about how to make art
using iPads whilst you create your tribute to those who fought in the Great War - perhaps even using
your own family photographs and memories as source material.
The work created in the workshops, alongside the work from schools, will then be incorporated into
the digital installation. For an extra fee you will be able to obtain a print of your artwork. Workshops
are FREE, suitable for ages 11+ and all skill levels are welcome.

At a small, rural train station three people arrive, waiting to board the next train. Rather strangely,
they all have the very same suitcase.
Time ticks by… The old tannoy announces the train is delayed and the longer the three characters
remain on the train station, the more they start to experience rather unusual events! Potty old
porters, waitresses serving the world’s worst sandwiches and the never-ending Lost & Found
department are only the start of the adventure. As suitcases get muddled, we embark on a quest to
discover who the three passengers may be and what they are up to.

Activate! BLOM: October 29 th 11am - 3pm
Blom is a sand writer. Its long arm, filled with white sand, draws ribbon patterns on the ground.
Once a pattern is completed, such as a flower, it moves on to the next one. Blom creates a colouring
book made out of sand – and alongside the drawings, small buckets with sand are provided for
spectators and children to colour them in as they wish. Blom offers a moment of creation that
sometimes stays for a long time, or on the other hand can vanish almost instantly. The sand can be
scattered by the weather, by humans, or animals, but always eventually disappears. How long will it
stay this time?

Wrap up warm and join us before dawn to watch the stunning sight of thousands of swans waking
up on the wetlands and then taking to the skies to fly out to the fields for the day. The Fen landscape

Firework Extravaganza: Saturday 1st November at 6pm
After the tremendous success of last year’s event we are already looking
forward to a great family night full of fabulous fireworks and rides in the dark.
Tickets are on sale now for £3.50 per person for entry. Ride wristbands are available for £8 (small
children up to 1.1 metres) and £10 (over 1.1 metres).
Rides open at 2.30pm, firework display at 6pm, park closes at 8pm.

Fiendish Fun at The Deep: Saturday 25th October – Sunday 2nd November
Join us here at The Deep for a spooktacular Halloween! We have some amazing ghoulish crafts and
activities to keep your little critters entertained this half term.
Try our creepy critters trail, collect your trail sheet from the entrance turnstile then find the clues
around The Deep, post your completed trail sheets into the entry box to be in with the chance of
winning a very special cuddly toy!
Stop by the Amazon Explorers Den between 11am and 4pm for some freaky face painting, choose
from a ghoulish ghost, eerie pumpkin or a spooky spider if you dare! Visit our Cool Seas area from
11am – 4pm for some creepy craft activities including making a spooky key ring, a scary spider to
take home or colour in your own creepy critters colouring in sheet!
Look out for The Deep Crew. Visitors can watch our incredible, brave divers feeding the magnificent
sharks and majestic rays by hand in our daily dive show at 2pm, you can also learn some amazing
facts about the amazing creatures who call The Deep home! (Dive shows are in Endless Oceans MonFri, Amazon on Sat & Lagoon on Sun). Don’t miss our exciting scatter feeds in the tropical Lagoon of
Light and learn more about the colour residents at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
Why not get up close to some of the smaller critters native to the UK in our Discovery sessions
where you can meet bumpy starfish, velvet swimmer crabs and spikey sea urchins. These sessions
run throughout the day next to the Lagoon of Light.
Follow our colony of Gentoo penguins' Trans-Atlantic journey to the UK from Texas and see how
their new home was built in our exciting film (footage supplied by BBC Inside Out). You can see this
film at 11.30am, 1pm and 3:30pm in the Endless Oceans gallery.
Pay once and visit for a year for free - Don’t forget, The Deep’s Day Plus Pass allows
you, and those with you on the day of your visit, to return free of charge for a 12 month period. A
Day Plus Pass form will be offered to you at reception when purchasing your tickets. This is included
