Student Announcements
THMS families and community members: Please join us this evening for our Annual Title I Meeting from 6 – 7pm
in the cafeteria. We will be discussing Title I Budget, review curriculum and assessments, and talk about academic
Family Engagement along with additional opportunities for students. A Spaghetti Dinner will be served at 5:30pm for
the first 80 persons. We look forward to meeting with you!
There will be no adjusted AIMS testing schedule next week! We will have a normal schedule next week. For
juniors and seniors who have not passed the AIMS test and juniors signed up who are attempting to score Exceed:
Tuesday October 28 Writing AIMS
Wednesday October 29 Reading AIMS
Thursday October 30 Math AIMS
Scaring season is upon us. Student Council presents Bucky’s House of Terror during both lunches on MONDAY
10/27. It’s only $2. Follow the signs to the back of the V building!
Anyone interested in playing Basketball, Soccer or Wrestling please pick up your athletic participation packet in
the Finance Office. You must have a current physical on the proper form which is in the packet. The athletic packet
must be submitted to Coach DeBerry in the Finance office before you are cleared to participate. Try-outs start
November 3rd and you will not be allowed to try-out till you are cleared by Coach DeBerry and your completed
packet is submitted. Any student athlete that has transferred from to Tucson High this year and wishes to compete in a
sport must see Coach DeBerry to complete a 520 form and go through the transfer process before you are cleared to
participate.
ATTENTION Tucson Badgers: Eighth Street directly behind the school is now a two way street. Please be mindful
of this when driving to and from school as it was previously a one way street.
Astronomy Club field trip to the UofA, this Thursday October 23, 2014. We will be leaving at 3:00 pm and are
meeting in the first floor lobby of the Technology to see a presentation and observe the Solar Eclipse. Bring money,
the presentation is $4.00. The mineral lab is $2.00. The Eclipse is free, but solar glasses need to be shared and
returned to Mrs. Palasi.
STEM Club Announcement: Meet with the STEM Club meeting Thursday (10-23-2014) this week after school in
Mr. Stockwell’s room, V102.
The cheer team will be collecting canned and boxed food for the community food bank at the last two home varsity
football games. There will be a box to the gate for the donations.
Students: you must have your ID when you come to the cafeteria. This is what is slowing down our lines because
the cashier has to put in the ID number of all the students that do not have their ID, we are doing about 1200 to 1300
students a day now. Thank you for your help.
AP English Tutoring meeting times and location have changed starting this week. Join us from 3:30-4:30 PM on
Mondays and Thursdays in the library reference section. Support is available for all areas of need, and students are
welcome to attend every session, weekly sessions, or to just drop in. If you have questions about AP English tutoring
contact Ms. Burk by email or in T350.
Juniors and Seniors: do you still need to pass the AIMS test for graduation? If so, please see your counselor for a
registration form for free AIMS tutoring! Yes, that’s right – free AIMS tutoring! Last opportunity is this Saturday!
Tucson High is having a car show this Friday night (10/24), before and during the football game in the practice
field just south of the stadium! Come check out the vehicles—it’s free. If you would like to enter a vehicle, please see
Mr. Thomas in room M212 or send him an email for instructions or speak with Jake Mozingo.
Staff Announcements
Four your planning: AIMS testing is around the corner. Writing is on Tuesday October 28, Reading is on
Wednesday October 29, and Math is on Thursday October 30. We will not have an adjusted schedule.
