REFRESHMENTS TO FOLLOW
Well…. the end of summer is here and peak season for some of our favorite produce
has almost come to a close. October is an interesting month to say the least. We
still have a little time left to enjoy the last of the summer harvest, and already some
fall and winter fruits and veggies are beginning to ripen. October is all about that
fine line between saying goodbye to summer and looking forward to the crisp flavors
and weather of fall.
With the changes in the seasons the dietary department will be looking to make the
change to our Fall Winter Menu. We discussed some of the foods from last year’s
menu at our Food Committee Meeting on Sept. 8th. We looked to the residents to
assist with making resident choices for specific meals as well as receive input about
what they like and don’t like. A final review of the menu will take place at the
October’s Meeting.
Our annual Thanksgiving meal is planned for Sunday
October 12, 2014 @ noon. Please RSVP the kitchen prior to
October 8th if you would like to join your loved one for a lovely meal.
Turkey with all the trimmings or Spaghetti with meat
sauce will be served.

With October upon us and the season of fall all around us I am reminded of comfort.
Comfort comes in many different forms. Most of us relate this time of year to comfort
foods with the bounty of recently harvested foods that will nourish our bodies all
season long. In the Activity Department we have a wonderful program that takes
place each Thursday morning called the Home Cooking program. The word home in
itself is comfort. At the Home Cooking program residents are provided with the
opportunity to experience the sights of freshly harvested food, the aromas as these
items are prepared and cooked and the taste of comfort as the final masterpieces
come to fruition and are enjoyed. A savoury, sweet, aromatic, and comforting
experience is waiting! Come and enjoy!
Programs of Interest this Fall:
The monthly Drumming Therapy and Music Therapy program continue into the fall.
Resident & Food Council meet on October 6th at 9:30 a.m.
Pizza & Wings Take-in October 28th – sign-up with Activity Staff
Princesses, Firefighters, Superhero’s and Clowns from Valley Way School, will adorn
the halls of Eventide on Friday October 31st at 2:00 p.m. for a spirited Halloween
Parade.
