Theme Passage
1 Cor 8 6 yet for us there is one God,
the Father, of whom are all things, & we
for Him; & one Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom are all things, & through
whom we live.
The Gospel- literally, good news or glad
tidings; refers to the message of the
sinless life, sacrificial death on the
cross for our sins & the bodily
resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel- It is a message that brings
salvation, defeats sin/death, gives
freedom & ability for fruitful living.
1) One Message…to be DeclaredI Cor 15:1-2
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you
the gospel which I preached to you,
which also you received & in which you
stand,
1) One Message…to be DeclaredI Cor 15:1-2
2 by which also you are saved, if you
hold fast that word which I preached to
you—unless you believed in vain.
The gospel is not designed only for
private consumption, but to be broadcast
to the whole world.
While a relationship with Christ is
intensely personal, God also expects it
to be intensely public, openly
professing your faith in Him.
Colossians 1 4 for we have heard that
you trust in Christ Jesus & that you
love all of God’s people. 5 You do this
because you are looking forward to the
joys of heaven— NLT
Colossians 1 5 … as you have been
ever since you first heard the truth of
the Good News. NLT
Colossians 1 6 This same Good
News that came to you is going out
all over the world. It is changing lives
everywhere, just as it changed yours
that very first day you heard &
understood the truth about God’s
great kindness to sinners. NLT
“Jesus both spoke the words of the Father
& did the works of the Father. Declaring the
gospel today means more than just
speaking the right words. We must be
willing to be good news to people”
Rick Warren
“… in order to bring the good news to
people we must be good news, so that
they will respond to it as good news.
Why? Because we cannot share the good
news & be bad news at the same time”
Rick Warren
1) One Message…to be DeclaredI Cor 15:1-2
Am I giving good news to the world
around me… or keeping it to myself?
2) One Message…of God’s WorkI Cor 15:1-2
3 For I delivered to you first of all that
which I also received: that Christ died
for our sins according to the Scriptures,
2) One Message…of God’s WorkI Cor 15:1-2
4 & that He was buried, & that He rose
again the third day according to the
Scriptures
* The gospel is God’s plan of salvation,
how we come to have eternal life with
Him. Notice that the good news has to
do with what God is doing for us, not
what we need to do for Him.
Rom 1 16 For I am not
ashamed of the gospel of
Christ, for it is the power of
God to salvation for
everyone who believes, for
the Jew first & also for the
Greek.
Rom 1 17 For in it the
righteousness of God is
revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, “The just
shall live by faith.”
Gal 1 6 I marvel that you are
turning away so soon from
Him who called you in the
grace of Christ, to a
different gospel,
Gal 1 7 which is not
another; but there are some
who trouble you & want to
pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1 8 But even if we, or an
angel from heaven, preach
any other gospel to you
than what we have
preached to you, let him be
accursed.
2) One Message…of God’s WorkI Cor 15:1-2
Am I tuning in to God’s message of
His work or turning away to a
message that celebrates my own
achievements?
1 Corinthians 1 21 Since God in his
wisdom saw to it that the world would
never find him through human
wisdom, he has used our foolish
preaching to save all who believe. NLT
1 Corinthians 1 22 God’s way seems
foolish to the Jews because they want
a sign from heaven to prove it is true.
And it is foolish to the Greeks because
they believe only what agrees with
their own wisdom. NLT
1 Corinthians 1 23 So when we
preach that Christ was crucified, the
Jews are offended, & the Gentiles say
it’s all nonsense. NLT
1 Corinthians 1 24 But to those called
by God to salvation, both Jews &
Gentiles, Christ is the mighty power of
God & the wonderful wisdom of God.
NLT
1 Corinthians 1 25 This “foolish” plan
of God is far wiser than the wisest of
human plans… NLT
