Photosynthesis and Limiting Factors?

Jobs:
Manager, cutter, colourer,
assembly, quality control.
Shop:
Scissors: 2 T-shirts
Crayon: 1 T-shirt each
Sell tape: 1 T-shirts
Patterns: 1 T-shirts.
The T-shirt Factory
Work as a team to make as many
T-shirts as possible.
At the end of each work period
you need to decide what tools
you need to be more efficient.
You may then buy more tools if
you wish.
The winning team is the one
which produces the most T-shirts
at the end.
Sellotape
tab
•T-shirts must have a front and a
back that align.
•The design must be coloured in
well.
What happened?
What held you up initially?
What was the most effective thing to buy?
Was it always the same factor which held you
up?
If you could change one thing at the start what
would it be?
Photosynthesis
Plants make their own food
Carbon dioxide + Water  Glucose + oxygen
You need to identify a science area for improvement. This forms part of your next
steps to achieving your target grade.
Consider the skills below. Rank them in order of need for you as an individual.
Areas I need to develop.......
From each group you need to assess the individual needs and
allocate a person to each skill.
Skill to develop this lesson.

Space Station Farming
You are part of a team designing a lunar space stations.
Your task is to design the agriculture module which will provide all of the fruit
and vegetables for the colony.
Design the module to help the plants grow as fast as possible. Label and
explain your design features.
True or False
The most important factor to a plant is the
light intensity?
The limiting factor on the rate of
photosynthesis is always the factor in
shortest supply.
False – it
depends
True
Only 0.04% of the air is CO2. On a hot,
sunny day the best way to increase the rate
of photosynthesis of plants in a
greenhouse is to increase the
concentration of CO2 .
True – plenty of
On a cold sunny day the best way to speed
up growth is to warm the plants.
True – plenty of light

in short supply
