Midway Party Rental
Midway Party Rental began servicing customers in 1995
from the home garage of founders Bill and Iris Friede.
Steady growth prompted a move to a more spacious
location in the Midway district of St. Paul, followed a
couple of years ago by another move to a 65,000 square
foot location on Kasota Street in Minneapolis.

crew pride themselves in keeping all of their linen items freshly laundered, satin free and available for service to
their many clients. Lori relies on Pariser/SoapTech laundry chemicals and specialty spotters from A.L.Wilson to
maintain the high quality appearance of the linens.
A Look Back at 1915:
A Pound of Coffee Was 30 Cents and Women Didn’t Have the Right to Vote!
Much Has Changed in the Last 100 Years – But the Minnesota Chemical Company Is Still Thriving
The year was 1915, and R.P. Baker was taking his first tentative steps in the business world as the founder of The Minnesota
Chemical Company. His goal was to provide cleaning supplies to launderers in St. Paul, Minnesota. Now, as Baker’s
grandsons lead the company towards its Centennial Anniversary, the company has expanded to a regional supplier of laundry
and dry cleaning supplies, equipment, parts and service. But while the company is still owned by the Bakers and their focus is
still on cleaning, the world of 2014 is vastly different from 1915. Here’s some facts about the world of R.P. Baker in 1915:
• Twin Cities residents could take a streetcar from downtown Minneapolis all the way out to Lake Minnetonka and then catch
a boat to Big Island in the middle of the lake, where there was an amusement park.
• 25,000 women march in New York City, demanding the right to vote.
• The Boston Braves win the baseball World Series (they eventually moved to Atlanta)
• German submarines repeatedly sink United States ships, drawing the U.S. ever closer to entering World War 1.
• Woodrow Wilson was finishing up his first term as president of the United States. He would be reelected to a second term in the fall of 1915.
• Albert Einstein proposes a new theory of gravity.
• Gas prices rise to 25 cents per gallon from 8 cents per gallon.
• The United States population tops 100 million (it now is at 316 million).
• Willys-Overland is the second largest producer of automobiles in the U.S. behind the Ford Company.
• The Dow Jones stock index rises to 99.15 – it topped 17,000 in 2014.
• The average new home costs $4,800 and average new car costs $500.
• Bacon is 27 cents a pound, coffee is 30 cents per pound, and eggs are 34 cents a dozen.
• Jack Johnson becomes the first black world heavyweight boxing champion.
• The first telephones appear; aspirin is sold for the first time; all films are silent; and Kraft processed cheese begins appearing in
American kitchens.
• The taxi industry begins when automobile owners discover that people will pay for a short automobile ride. Fare is a ‘jitney’ (a nickel), and cars are
soon called jitneys. Drivers are known as ‘hackers’ or ‘hackies’ on the East Coast, ‘cabbies’ in the Midwest.

15 Foot Rule
Entrance Matting
Wet sloppy weather is coming!
Be prepared by making your
entryways safe and attractive
while ensuring a cleaner overall facility with NOTRAX®
Premium Floor Mats.
Consider owning your own mats rather than renting.
We can demonstrate pay-back figures. Many styles
and sizes available.
Between 70-80% of all moisture, dirt and debris are brought into a
facility on the bottom of one’s shoes. It has been recommended that
at least 15 feet of matting is required to remove the majority of dirt
and debris from foot traffic. 15 feet of matting ensures that each foot
will make contact with the matting at least 3 times, providing adequate
scraping and drying to stop most dirt and moisture at the entrance.
