Students who sign up for Fast Lane to Success and other learning communities at Lane are more
deeply engaged and more likely to stay in school and succeed. All courses count toward your
degree. You'll work together in these classes as a cohort, get to know one another better, and
start study groups that can continue throughout college.

For highly motivated students who almost but don't quite test into Writing 121. This learning
community will begin with your current abilities in reading, writing, and critical thinking, and
support you as you fulfill the expectations and outcomes of Lane's transfer-level Writing 121
course. While this will be a challenging learning community, you will have the assistance of
dedicated faculty who have designed the curriculum to be collaborative. "The Fast and the
Curious" will also facilitate your acceleration by providing you with experienced peer
mentorship. You'll get to know other students well as you work together in both of these
courses.

BIOBONDS, for Health Occupations
BI 112 Cell Biology for Health Occupations linked with CH 112 Chemistry for Health Occupations

This learning community combines Chemistry for Health Occupations (CH 112) and Cell Biology
for Health Occupations (BI 112) into a foundational course for students interested in pursuing
the Anatomy and Physiology sequence at LCC. Through a variety of laboratory, group, lecture,
and computer activities, students explore the life of the cell and the molecules that compose it,
thus preparing students for the study of human organ systems that occurs in Human Anatomy
and Physiology (BI 231, 232, 233). This learning community satisfies the prerequisite for
Anatomy and Physiology I (BI 231).

Women in Transition
CG 220 Life Transitions linked with CG 140 T Career & Life Planning

This learning community is a one-term, seven-credit entry program that empowers women in
transition to become economically self-sufficient and improve their lives through access to
education. The program focuses on life and career planning, decision making, goal setting, selfexploration, and self-esteem building. Optional courses include effective learning, computer
skills, math, writing, college success and physical education. Coordinated through the Women's
Program, this learning community offers individual advising, support services, and convenient
