NOVEMBER 2014 EVENTS
We have an on-going men's prayer meeting every Saturday morning at 7:00am at
Faith Fellowship Church. This has become an awesome time in which men from
various churches gather to seek God for our families, churches, our nation, and to
encourage one another. Please join with us and invite others to come.
At the women’s weekly prayer meeting on Monday night,
November 3rd, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tammy Ready will be giving
a special presentation, “A PLEA FOR JUSTICE”. A woman’s story
of triumph through great adversity, and how GOD used her life
to reach out to change laws and powerfully witness.

Celebrating Veterans Day
Around the World
Britain, France, Australia and Canada also
commemorate the veterans of World Wars
I and II on or near November 11th: Canada
has Remembrance Day, while Britain has
Remembrance Sunday (the second Sunday
of November). In Europe, Britain and the
Commonwealth countries it is common to
observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.
every November 11.
In the United States, an official wreath-laying ceremony is held each Veterans Day
at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery, while parades and
other celebrations are held in states around the country. Veterans Day is not to be
confused with Memorial Day–a common misunderstanding, according to the U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs. Memorial Day (the fourth Monday in May)
honors American service members who died in service to their country or as a
result of injuries incurred during battle, while Veterans Day pays tribute to all
American veterans–living or dead–but especially gives thanks to living veterans
who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
Veterans Stats
The brave men and women who serve and protect the U.S. come from all walks of
life; they are parents, children and grandparents. They are friends, neighbors and
coworkers, and an important part of their communities. Here are some facts about
the current veteran population of the United States:
1. There are approximately 23.2 million military veterans in the United States.
2. 9.2 million Veterans are over the age of 65.
3. 1.9 million Veterans are under the age of 35.
4. 1.8 million Veterans are women.
5. 7.8 million Veterans served during the Vietnam War era (1964-1975), which
represents 33% of all living veterans.
6. 5.2 million Veterans served during the Gulf War (representing service from
Aug. 2, 1990, to present).
7. 2.6 million Veterans served during World War II (1941-1945).
8. 2.8 million Veterans served during the Korean War (1950-1953).
9. 6 million veterans served in peacetime.
10. As of 2008, 2.9 million veterans received compensation for service-connected
disabilities.
11. 5 states have more than 1 million veterans in among their population:
California (2.1 million), Florida (1.7 million), Texas (1.7 million), New York
(1 million) and Pennsylvania (1 million).

praying for their loved ones too.

NOVEMBER MYSTERY APPETIZERS OF THE MONTH
SEASONED OYSTER CRACKERS:
¾ c. salad oil
1 (1 oz.) Pkg. Hidden Valley
Whisk together the first 5 ingredients.
Ranch Original Mix Recipe
Pour over crackers, stirring to coat. Place
½ tsp. dill weed
on baking sheets and bake at 275° for 15
¼ tsp. lemon pepper
to 20 minutes. Makes 11-12 cups.
¼ tsp. garlic powder
12-16 oz. plain oyster cracker
CHEESE BALL:
1 lb. cheddar cheese
1 (8 oz.) & 1 (3 oz.) cream cheese
3 Tbsp. vinegar
Garlic powder to taste
SAUSAGE CHEESE BALLS:
3 c. Bisquick baking mix
1 Lb. bulk pork sausage
4 c. shredded cheddar cheese (16 oz)
½ c. grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp. dried rosemary
½ tsp. parsley flakes
PUMPKIN DIP:
8 oz. cream cheese
15 oz. can pumpkin
2 cups confectioner’s sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. ginger
⅛ tsp. cloves
MEXICAN DIP:
4 oz. cream cheese
1 can chili with beans
1 (4 oz.) can chopped chilies
4 oz. Velveeta Mexi cheese
Shred Cheddar cheese and let come to room
temperature. Soften cream cheese and mix all
ingredients together, mixing well. Shape into
a ball and roll in finely chopped nuts or any
garnish. Chill for several hours. Let come to
room temperature before serving.
Pastor David has been telling us this past year of his belief of the imminent return of the Lord. He has given us examples of events happening in
seven year intervals, the significance of the events and the scripture which
supports all the signs. This year as we celebrate the first Advent, Christ’s
birth, let’s anticipate and celebrate the second Advent, His return for his
bride, His children. As we long for his return we must remember that
judgment is not for sinners alone, we as Christians, will be judged and
held accountable for what we have done for Him and for what we haven’t
done for Him. Come Immanuel, come and deliver your people. We have
Hope, Peace, Joy and Love…..knowing that Christ is the light of the world.

Omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet.
(Isa 44:6) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the
LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no
God.
(Rev 1:8) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the
Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease jelly roll pan
lightly. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Shape
mixture into 1 inch balls; place in pan. Bake 20
minutes to 25 minutes or until brown, turning
once. Immediately remove from pan. Serve
warm. Makes about 6½ dozen.
Cream together cream cheese and pumpkin.
Add confectioner’s sugar, cinnamon, ginger
and cloves. Mix thoroughly. Chill. Serve with
ginger snaps or apple slices.
Spread softened cream cheese in bottom of a
9 inch pie plate. Spread chili with beans on
top of that. Spread chipped chilies on top of
that. Cover top of chilies with sliced cheese.
Bake in a 350° oven until bubbly. Serve with
taco chips.

The most quoted verse in the bible, John 3:16; “ For God SO loved the
world that he gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN son”…. And then John 3:36,
He that believeth have everlasting life: and he that believeth not shall not
see life; but the wrath of God. We are presented with two choices; belief
that results in truly living, now and forever, or disobedience that has you
living under the wrath of God, now and forever. If we believe, trust, obey
and walk with the Lord daily we receive our inheritance, Love, Joy,
Peace…. Or we can continue to be filled with emptiness, depression, hurt,
anger, pain and death, and separation from God and His grace.
WHAT AM I THANKFUL FOR: Well, do you have all day.… First and
foremost, is for my salvation and second is for Barry, and I am thankful
for my precious Godly Mother and Mother-in-law, my grandparents,
brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, friends, church, church family ...you
kinda get where I’m going, yep, people, many who are no longer with me,
but I will see them again when the Lord returns and takes me to my new
home. I am also thankful for my health, or my lack of good health,
because through it the Lord gave me Barry. I’ll try to make this short…..
Unknown to me, Barry and some of his family and friends had been praying for several years for a wife for him... (I later found out my sister had
also been praying for a husband for me.) As I was recuperating from
aneurysm surgery at my sister Nancy’s home, she kept tying to get me to
move to Charlotte with her. I kept telling her that I had to go home, that
the Lord was telling me that that was where I needed to be, Newdale. She
got a little mad at me for coming home, since I had no immediate family
up here, but she got over it. And later, while still taking it easy at my
home, I started listening to CD’s of the Church services from “my old
home church”, and soon started coming back to church (that is another
story for a later time). Didn’t take Mr. Barry long to ask me to go eat with
him and some of his friends, who I just also happened to know. And the
rest is history...The Lord gave me another family, the McKinney’s, who I
am so thankful for. Little did I know why I had to come back home to
Newdale!!!!
A brief excerpt from David’s blessing at our wedding:
“You will have laughter and you will have tears, but you will bear
each others burden, and the joy of the Lord will be your strength. Your
life together will be a blessing and an inspiration to others who are
hurting. You will work together in the kingdom and your gifts will
compliment each other in the ministry God has prepared for you, both
inside and outside the church. Be ready and open for new opportunities to glorify Him for He has surprises in store for you…...God has
chosen you to show His faithfulness, His love, and the power of His
promise.”
I am so thankful He was faithful and gave me Barry. I am also
thankful for what the Lord has done, what He hasn’t, what He will
do, and what He won’t. He knows best:
(Jer 29:11) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the
LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

“Hear” we go again, me and my song lyrics...again I have scripture (above) to
go with them. The first song, Knowing You Jesus.....we can all be thankful
that we have the opportunity to know him and that his love for us is free. All
that other stuff that we think is necessary is really worthless. It is so simple,
just let all the other stuff go and have one desire, to know Jesus more, better
and to have a closer relationship with Him. As the time of his return is getting
nearer, our one desire should be to get as close to God as possible and to share
his light and love with everyone we can.
I love you Lord, what better way to: (Psa 100:4) Enter into his gates with
thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and
bless his name. What sweeter sound could there be for Him to hear than, “I
Love You Lord”. Tell Him daily you love Him and thank Him for His Grace.

UPDATES FROM THE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
There wasn’t a lot of technology news this month, as after a second stay in the hospital
I am still on the mend, and barring a mighty move of God it appears surgery is in my
future. But enough about that…let’s get on to other matters.
I don’t think I have ever written anything even close to an op-ed piece in my life…but
I guess there’s a first time for everything. There’s an issue that I have been thinking
about and considering for a long time, and I pray I can find the words to express my
thoughts and opinions about it in a way that is understandable and makes sense.
There has been no technological advancement that has changed the functioning of this
planet more than the Internet. Not television, not radio, not even telephone. Practically
any of us that are old enough to remember life before the Internet longs for the
simplicity of the time before dot com became a household phrase. But the reality is
that it’s here and it isn’t going anywhere, and its reach and scope is advancing faster
than we can imagine.
We think of the Internet as www something or other, as email, Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, Pinterest and other “apps.” But what would happen if the Internet suddenly
shut off today? There are some people who don’t have an Internet connection in their
home or don’t have a computer/Smartphone/tablet that may think that it wouldn’t
really bother them much since they don’t participate in those activities. The truth is
that these aspects of the Internet are just a small part of its overall function. If the
Internet stopped today there would most likely be mass destruction, death of possibly
millions, rioting, looting, carnage, and the list goes on. The result would be unimaginable. It has nothing to do with anger that social media apps aren’t functioning, Skype
or the www isn’t working, or your email isn’t getting through.
The Internet is an infrastructure, just like the electric grid or the phone company. It
travels around the globe primarily through fiber optic lines that carries the data using
light. Your money, bank accounts, credit/debit card transactions, practically every
worldwide financial action travels by IP (Internet Protocol). Merchandise supply lines,
manufacturing, land and sea shipping, worldwide communications, food distribution,
health care, are all are connected directly to the Internet. You would have no power,
no way to purchase food (or food to purchase), no communication, no money except
for cash on hand, little access to health care. Basically it boils down to the fact that life
as we see it today would cease to exist. And it wouldn’t take a complete shutdown to
wreak havoc…just a small outage would be enough to cause catastrophic problems.
Whether or not you have an Internet connected computer or phone doesn’t matter.
Unless you live isolated from the electric grid, grow all your own food, produce all
your own seed and fertilizer, make you own tools, mill your own lumber, grind your
own meal and flour, and transact only with cash or barter, you are connected in some
way to the Internet.
The bottom line is the Internet is here, it’s vast, and it’s powerful. There are hundreds
of millions of people directly connected, and billions are affected by its reach. And
when you think about it, how many of those who are directly connected don’t know
Jesus? And the most important question is, how many are YOU ministering to?

God’s Hands Ministry of Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church operates every
other Saturday from 8:30am to noon to give food to the needy. Church
is located on Crabtree Road near the Mitchell-Yancey County line.
