ILENIUM TRE
Milenium Tres, a 98 metre Incat built wave piercing catamaran, was delivered in 2006 under an
eight (8) year charter that will conclude on the 31st December 2014. The Vessel is available for sale
or charter.
As the twelfth 96-98 metre Incat wave piercing catamaran and the 37th Incat high speed craft over
70 metres to enter service around the world, the highly evolved design of Milenium Tres
maximises operational and port flexibility whilst allowing the operator to generate revenue from a
well diversified income base. At the same time Milenium Tres minimises operating costs through
a combination of low safe manning requirements, the most efficient medium speed diesel
engines being installed and a highly efficient hull form with minimal underwater appendages.
Milenium Tres is currently configured to carry 900 persons and up to 267 cars or a combination of
up to 380 truck lane metres and 90 cars. Uniquely, Milenium Tres is fitted with two large
articulated stern ramps that facilitate fast turnarounds, unprecedented levels of operational
redundancy and excellent access into developed and austere port environments. The stern
ramps can be deployed to a wide range of wharf sill heights and they are capable of carrying all
vehicles up to and including large articulated trucks.
Milenium Tres can earn income from a diversified revenue base including on-board spend (bars,
cafes, duty free shop, gaming etc), passenger tickets, motorbikes, cars, coaches and trucks.
Milenium Tres has minimal crewing requirements compared to many other ferries. A minimum
safe manning of 24 crew is required when carrying a full load of 900 persons on board and this can
be reduced further on sailings where less passengers are carried.
Milenium Tres is fitted with four of MAN's most powerful and fuel efficient 1000 rpm diesel
engines each rated at a minimum 7200 kW @ 1000 rpm MCR and offering a high power to weight
ratio. The latest combustion chamber technology with electronically controlled pump pipe
injection system and optimised cylinder pressures, reduces fuel consumption by 7-8% over many
other high speed craft engines currently in service.
Milenium Tres is built and certified to operate in up to 5 metres significant wave height and with its
excellent manoeuvrability, station keeping and seakeeping it can sail when many other high
speed ferries are confined to port. Interestingly, as a hull form the Incat wave piercing catamaran
is deployed on more rough weather routes than any other design of fast ferry.
Milenium Tres incorporates an innovative retractable t-foil that ensures superior on board
comfort in heavy sea conditions and this t-foil can be retracted in lighter sea conditions to greatly
reduce hydrodynamic drag and importantly, fuel consumption.
Aside from ferry applications Milenium Tres, with or without refit, offers unique land and maritime
multi-mission / multi-role interoperability including: Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB) – AntiPiracy – Border Protection – Capacity Building – Coast Guard – Command & Control – Counter
Drug, Insurgency or Terrorism – Economic Exclusion Zone (EEZ) protection – Emergency
Evacuation – Escort Vessel – High Speed Logistics – Humanitarian Assistance – Intra Theatre Lift
– Joint Logistics Over The Shore (JLOTS) – Lift on Lift off (Lo-Lo) – Maritime Interdiction
Operations (MIO) – Maritime Prepositioning Ship (MPS) – Maritime Security – Maritime Support
Vessel (MSV) – Military Sealift – Multi Role Support Vessel (MRSV) – Noncombatant Evacuation
Operation (NEO) – Patrolling – Peacekeeping - Post Conflict/Disaster Recovery – Rapid Reaction
Force (RRF) – Replenishment at Sea (RAS) – Roll on Roll off – Sea Basing – Search & Rescue
(SAR) – Theatre Support Vessel (TSV) – Training – Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS).
