Refreshments will be served. 5th Annual Lindsay JOLLY JOG Saturday, November 29th, 2014 10:00 am to 1:00 pm The Lindsay Jolly Jog is a 5k fun walk/run for families and friends to take to the streets of Lindsay dressed in their most festive outfits and spread some holiday cheer. Participants can take part in caroling and cookies along the 5k route, enjoy live entertainment before returning back to the Victoria Park Armoury for a visit with Santa and a Chili brunch. Proceeds from this event are in support of Kawartha Lakes Food Source and the CKL Santa Claus Stocking Fund. Take part in the costume contest, come dressed in your most fun and festive holiday attire for a chance to win some great prizes. Registration: www.lindsayjollyjog.eventbrite.com Page 2 COMMUNITY SUPPORT Dr. Phillip Croutch and his Spinewerx staff hosted a food drive during their Lark in the Park event which celebrated their 30th anniversary. The donations contributed by participants were 221 units and $597.75 Dr. Croutch presents the cheque to John Glenney, KLFS volunteer. THE SOURCE Giant Tiger sold prepared Thanksgiving bags of food and donated the proceeds to KLFS. Judy Sorensen, Manager presents the $500 cheque to Nancy Newton, Chair, Food Acquisition Committee. Southview Estates Community Association held their 3rd annual food drive which donated 496 pounds of food and $140.00. Many thanks! The Lindsay Gallery held their Fall Tea recently inviting Christine Gimblett to speak about KLFS. Jean Pollock presents a cheque to help with our ongoing programs. Lindsay Transit held a one day food drive at Food Basics and provided the warehouse with 733 pounds of food and $130.70. Page 3 THE SOURCE Victoria Manor Residents hosted a food drive and collected 105 units, 2 grocery gift cards and $283.30. This will increase the quality of life of the underprivileged within the CKL. The annual “Drive Away Hunger” campaign by Farm Credit Canada was a great success. Over 950 lbs. of food were donated plus $530.00! Pope John Paul II Catholic Elementary School collected an additional 387 lbs. Kawartha Lakes Food Source has been fortunate to receive fresh produce this summer and fall. Recent donations have been received from Neil Anderson, Paul Gimblett, Lindsay Community Gardens, Kevin Disney, Mr. & Mrs. Ken Oliphant and Paul Stoll. The 15th Annual Lindsay Fall Food Drive was held on Saturday, October 18th, 2014. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints supporting the Kawartha Lakes Food Source & member agencies collected 7,928 pounds of food by going door-todoor. Thank you to all the drivers, gatherers and sorters for once again making this a successful event. How People are Helping Renewing their Patronage: Mrs. Nama Tummon, Lindsay & District Labour Council, James Lindsay, Jean Blewett, Staples & Swain, Hazel Hladki, Dr. Julie Johnson, Kaye Reeds, Brenda & William Moynes and Karl Batty. The Hershey Company generously donated 37 cases of products just in time for Halloween. In honour of Maria Bennett’s 25th anniversary with Mary Kay, 95 non-perishable items and $65 were donated. Paul & Eleanor Reed donated 30 lbs. of lamb which is an added supplement for our members . The New Apostolic Church held a food drive & car wash fundraiser which resulted in 143 nonperishable food items and $165. Investors Group Financial Services’ recent Comedy Evening provided 743 pounds of food. Spending a day at the Lindsay Farmers’ Market informing the public about our important work also brought in 236 pounds of produce. The Victoria Haliburton Law Association invested in the community by making a donation. Wendy Fagan’s steer was sold at auction and the net proceeds of $1700 was contributed to KLFS.
