Page 2 By Allan Mosak This week, an article in the Atlantic Magazine quoted an unnamed senior Obama administration official as calling Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu a “chickens**t.” Apparently, the official is oblivious to the irony of profanely referring to Netanyahu as a coward while he himself stays behind the safety of anonymity. Administration officials, including White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, did not deny the quote. They also did not signal that there would be any major effort to find out who said it. The unnamed official goes on to describe why he considers Netanyahu a coward, referring to Iran’s nuclear ambitions: “It’s too late for [Netanyahu] to do anything. Two, three years ago, this was a possibility. But ultimately he couldn’t bring himself to pull the trigger. It was a combination of our pressure and his own unwillingness to do anything dramatic. Now it’s too late.” Chutzpah has often been defined as killing your parents and then begging for mercy as an orphan. The White House suggests a new definition. They begged Israel not to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities, while promising to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb. Now they are settling for a bad deal that allows Iran to become a threshold state, and are keeping the deal out of Congress so Israel's supporters there can't kill it. To literally add insult to injury, they have now publicly insulted Israel's Prime Minister as a coward for doing as they asked and for being naïve enough to believe that White House promises actually stand for something. The Obama administration wouldn’t dream of speaking this way to Ayatollah Khamenei to pressure him destroy his 23,000 centrifuges before next month’s nuclear negotiating deadline. It has not pressured the Emir of Qatar to stop being the paymaster of terrorists. Nor has it scolded Turkey's President Erdoğan to stop acting like a regional bully. It seems that this administration only insults its allies, never its enemies. House Speaker John Boehner condemned the "disrespectful rhetoric used time and again by this administration with respect to the special relationship the United States has with the state of Israel." He added: "The President sets the tone for his administration. He either condones the profanity and disrespect used by the most senior members of his administration, or he does not. It is time for him to get his house in order and tell the people that can't muster professionalism that it is time to move on." Dan Gillerman, former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, said of the quotes: “I think it’s shameful...This is not the way you speak about your only ally, about the only democracy in the Middle East, especially not when the Middle East is so volatile”. Rabbi Marvin Hier, Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, called on President Obama to "name, apologize for, and repudiate" the anonymous, boorish official who called Prime Minister Netanyahu a "Chickens**t Hockey Tickets Join the shul for 2 fun nights as we say good bye to the Nassau Coliseum New York Islanders vs New Jersey Devils Monday December 15, 2014 7pm puck drop New York Islanders vs New York Rangers Tuesday January 27, 2015 $75 dollars gets you a ticket for both games.
