FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 1, 2014 LARRY HUBICH REMAINS SFL PRESIDENT AFTER RECEIVING A NEW MANDATE Delegates at the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL) convention in Regina have concluded elections, and Larry Hubich will remain the president after no challenger was nominated. This will be Hubich’s seventh term as president in a row, each term being two years in duration. “With a strong and growing labour movement, a community organizing initiative, and a pending Supreme Court of Canada decision related to the Government of Saskatchewan’s Bills 5 and 6, delegates are happy with the direction of the SFL,” said Hubich, “it is an honour to be acclaimed as president, and I look forward to expanding our movement even more in the next two years,” he added. Convention delegates also acclaimed Lori Johb as the SFL’s Secretary-‐Treasurer. “I presented my record of accountability and transparency, and good fiscal management,” said Johb, “my priorities have been to invest in education, funding for community allies, and to deliver balanced budgets – I am humbled that delegates support those priorities, and have provided me with another two-‐year mandate,” she added. The SFL’s 59th annual convention took place in Regina from October 29 to November 1, and included approximately 650 delegates, guests, and members of the media. -‐ 30 -‐ The SFL represents over 100,000 working people across the province in 37 affiliated unions.
