COMMERCIAL PROTECTOR SYSTEM EDGE INTERFACE MODEL CPS-EI APPLICATION

COMMERCIAL PROTECTOR SYSTEM®
EDGE INTERFACE
MODEL CPS-EI
APPLICATION
This device is intended for use with LiftMaster Logic commercial
door operators and compatible 4-wire monitored sensing edges.
This is a stand-alone reversing system and is not intended to be
used in conjunction with any additional entrapment protection
devices. A junction box (not provided) is recommended to protect
exposed wiring.
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:
• This device is for use ONLY on LiftMaster® Commercial Door
Operators.
• Disconnect power BEFORE installing the Commercial
Protector System® Edge Interface.
• Read and follow ALL instructions.
INSTALL THE CPS-EI SYSTEM
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE ENTRAPMENT
PROTECTION DEVICES
Be sure power to the operator is disconnected.
When properly installed and connected, the system will detect an
obstacle in the path of the door sensing edge and reverse the
door if activated.
If an obstruction is detected while the door is closing, the door will
stop and reverse to the fully open position.

Install 4-Wire Sensing Edge as per manufacturer instructions.
Compatible Edges: 65-ME123 4, 65-ME113 4, 65-8203 2, 65-8204 4
RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect power to the operator.
2. Mount junction box on the wall half way up the door opening.
3. Attach 4-wire coil cord from sensing edge to junction box and
secure in place with the strain relief provided. See wiring diagram
below for sensing edge connections.
4. Run 2 wires from the CPS-EI and connect to the operator as
shown in the wiring diagrams on the next page.
NOTE: Run all wires to the operator through conduit following all
local and National Electric Code. Do not run CPS-EI and power
wiring in the same conduit.
Connect wiring to
LMEP connections
on logic board.
Sensing Edge
TEST SYSTEM
1. Reapply power to the operator. Green LED on CPS-EI should
light if properly attached and sensing edge is not activated.
2. Partially open door.
3. Activate sensing edge, green LED on CPS-EI should go out.
4. Close door. NOTE: Green LED will go out if sensing edge is
activated when door is fully closed.
5. Open door.
6. Begin closing. Activate sensing edge as door is closing.
Door should stop and reverse to the open position.
If any step fails, check connections.

TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE
PROBLEM
SOLUTION
CAUSE
Green LED does not light.
• Check that connections to CPS-EI are
correct.
• Check that sensing edge is not shorted
(open door if closed).
• All 6 connections are necessary for the
LED to light.
Green LED is lit but door does not reverse.
• Check connections to operator.
Door will only operate in C2 (constant
pressure to close) mode even though
CPS-EI seems to be installed correctly.
• Check operator programming
instructions for setting to B2
(momentary pressure to close) mode.
• Operator was programmed for C2
(constant pressure to close) operation
only.
