Purpose of the Position
The Playgroup Association of Queensland Inc. (Playgroup Queensland) is a not-for-profit
organisation and registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit
Commission. The Association is the peak body for the Playgroup movement in
Queensland and a primary provider of other State and National early intervention and
specialist family services. Playgroup Queensland (PGQ) supports and establishes
Community Playgroups and delivers a variety of quality early intervention programs and
services for families in conjunction with Government, non-Government and community
agencies. PGQ also acts as a voice to Government and the wider community on early
childhood and parenting matters.
The Marketing Events and Communications Manager role is a key management position
and a member of the Operations Team. The position is responsible for enabling the
organisation to achieve its Mission and Vision through the provision of targeted
marketing, events and communications services.
The primary purpose of the Marketing Events and Communications Manager’s role is to
develop, implement and monitor the PGQ strategic and operational plan in relation to
Marketing, Media, Fundraising, Sponsorship, Partnership and communications strategies
and tactics.
Flexibility in the hours worked is essential as the role may require work before or after
hours, and occasionally on weekends.

Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this role will include the following, as well as those that may
be delegated from time to time by the line manager:
1. Develop, implement and monitor the Marketing business plan




Develop, monitor and review Playgroup Queensland’s marketing plan annually in
accordance with the PGQ Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan
Develop, monitor and measure strategic and operational KPIs relevant to the
marketing, events and communications function
Project manage and plan all marketing initiatives and events within budget and
timeframes
Oversee, coordinate and support all promotional, profile and brand awareness
activities in conjunction with the Services Management Team, Program Managers/
Coordinators and relevant external partners/agencies.
2. Manage Organisational Events




Develop and monitor Event Calendar annually for calendar year
Develop comprehensive event management plans for all events and fundraising
activities in conjunction with the MEC team
Generate public relations, advertising and exposure around key strategic activities
in conjunction with line manager and CEO
Evaluate and report on outcomes of each event against participant/ stakeholder
feedback, allocated budgets, achievement targets and the event management
plan.
3. Manage internal and external Communications function






Develop and monitor internal and external communications plans as required
across the business
Review and approve all internal and external communications including but not
limited to e-communications, newsletters, briefing papers and memos as relevant
to organisational activities and in conjunction with line manager
Manage and monitor organisational website and social media accounts
Manage, review and monitor marketing and promotional content or collateral
including logos, trademarks, copyright and production in accordance with brand
protection policy
Manage and approve all advertising within advertising guidelines including
website and e-news in conjunction with line manager
Source quality articles and coordinate their submission to approved publications
in conjunction with the Executive Group and relevant external partners
4. Manage Fundraising and Sponsorship activities



Develop an annual Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorship plan taking into
consideration partner agreements and National initiatives promoted by Sing &
Grow Australia, Playgroup Australia and other PG STAs
Develop relationships with key corporate and organisational partners to achieve
sponsorship, fundraising and donor goals
Manage and monitor the work of the Foundation to ensure fundraising goals are
achieved and donations/grants to beneficiaries are appropriately allocated in
accordance with the objects of the PGQ Constitution and the Board’s approval.
5. Compliance and Administration
 Monitor direct staff compliance with relevant policies including but not limited to
the Communications policy (including electronic communications) and the Social
Media Policy in conjunction with line manager.



Manage and monitor organisational DGR status and the donations and gift
register in conjunction with the Finance Manager and CEO.
Complete all reporting tasks including outcomes reporting for the CEO and Board
in a timely manner and as required.
Comply with the Playgroup Queensland policies and procedures to ensure a safe
work environment for yourself and others.
Demonstrate Playgroup Queensland Competencies (Selection Criteria)
Within the context of the role described above, the ideal candidate will be someone who
can demonstrate the following competencies and attributes:

Significant experience in sales, marketing, advertising, public relations, and/or
events management and marketing campaign delivery.
SC2
Proven ability to communicate well in a clear, open and honest manner, both
verbal and written, including when liaising with partners, government dignitaries,
suppliers and media.
SC3
Highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills including ability to
manage multiple and conflicting deadlines with attention to detail.
SC4
Proven ability to work within a busy and challenging environment and manage a
small team within an outcomes framework.
SC5
Highly experienced in relationship management, including influencing,
negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills
SC6
Advanced level of skill in database administration, website management and
various social and e-media applications and systems including In-design and
Adobe
SC7
Advanced level of computer literacy especially in Microsoft Office suite including
Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and email and Internet
Other Requirements for this Role

Tertiary qualification(s) in Commerce, Marketing, Events Management, or Media
and Communications at degree level or a minimum of three years relevant
experience
 Must hold a current ‘C’ class drivers licence
 Must hold or be eligible to hold a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) under
the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000
(QLD)
Additional Information
 The duration of this position will be dependent on sustainability of overall
government funding for PGQ Programs and Services.
 The successful applicant will be required to complete a three month probation
period on commencement of this role.
 A non-smoking policy applies in PGQ buildings, offices and motor vehicles.

wellbeing issues and comply with all provisions of the relevant workplace health
and safety legislation.

Conditions of Employment

Remuneration
package
Permanent Full Time position - 38 hours per week 52 weeks of the
year during times appropriate for conducting the work. Must be
available to work and travel outside of normal business hours if
required.
A PGQ vehicle will be available for work purposes.
Travel will be required from time to time to attend meetings outside
of Brisbane.
All other reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed on production
of an expense claim and receipts.
Terms and Conditions of the Social Community Home Care &
Disability Services Industry Modern Award 2010 and National
Employment Standards apply.
Salary package band for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 based on
experience, qualifications and performance.
