What’s On?
TERM 4
Operation Christmas Child: A huge thank you to Olivia Reed, Chloe Bendall-Brown and Kelsey Haynes who
coordinated the Christmas Shoebox project this year. Due to the generous support from school families and
coaching from form teachers, we presented fifty five boxes to local coordinator, Mrs Esther Davis.
Appreciation to all who donated money directly for postage and/or supported the recent Mufti Day.
OPEN DAY next Tuesday 4 November
We are again having a 4th term Open Day, although
somewhat later in the year this time. The purpose is to
make as many people aware as possible in North
Canterbury that we are here and share with them what
we can offer their children, whether they are about to
start school, or whether they are already secondary
students, or about to enter secondary school.
and also meet me and hear me share briefly in the
Auditorium at 12:30, 3:30 and 5:30 about what we can
offer them and their children.

We are excited to see that Faith –
our own Rangiora New Life giraffe,
is now completed and all set to be
on display in the Waimakariri
Library along with the other three
baby giraffes from local schools. A
huge thank you to Mr Page and
Year 10 students Caitlin Shekleton,
Petra Kay (pictured) and SarahJane Smith who designed and
oversaw the painting of Faith
(helped by some of our primary
students). After she has been on
display over the summer in our
local library, Faith will be returned
to our school and become a
colourful visual reminder of some
of the values that we aspire to.
The long weekend was a
particularly rewarding one
for Rangiora New Life School
Year 9 student and
equestrian Josie Steyn.
Last Saturday, Josie placed in
the top three riders across
four different Rangiora A & P
show day equestrian classes,
gaining in total one first, two
seconds and one third place.
Josie started riding at around
seven. Her current horse is a
more recent acquisition. “I
have owned the pony that I have now [Peri] for just under two years.” Josie
said she was “really happy” with how the competition went. “Peri did really
well, and all the preparation and training really paid off!”
Sausage sizzles every Wednesday at lunch time to
support two Y10 students going on a language trip to
Tahiti. $2 for a sausage and $1.50 for a drink.
