Refreshments first Tuesday night of the Month
Harvest Festival and New Year’s Eve party: We
will have a meeting to plan the New Year’s Eve party
and have a wrap-up discusison about the Harvest Festival which happened at the end of September. Jeanne
Cate has the feedback from vendors and Ilene Sandoval
and Carmen Jimenez will have reports on that. Peter
Mothander has a report on the performers. Nicole Molina will report on the food. We would like to know
what people thought of the festival, and what could be
improved, and how we can reach more people. Please
come to the meeting on Sunday, December 7, from 10
a.m. - 1 p.m. Lunch will be served. If you cannot come,
please drop Georgina a note via email or phone--we
would like everyone’s feedback! Thanks!
The New Year’s Eve Party will again take place at the
Folk Dance Center from 8 to just after midnight. The
cost will probably stay the same: $5/person with a plate
of food to share and $10/person without food. There will
be door prizes again so please bring your wrapped white
elephants to the party--someone will enjoy it! Honest!
To help plan it, please come to the meeting!
Holiday Party, Dec 16: The next party will be the
Holiday Party, also on a Tuesday night because of venue
problems. The party will be from 7 - 9:30 in the Balboa Park Club, sponsored by Cabrillo and the SDIFDC.
Bring finger foods to share--drinks and utensils will be
provided. It will again be an all request program, so
bring those dance names in order to make your requests!

yours, please see Ilene.
Tuesday Evening Class for November: Chin
Yu will have the program on November 4. It will also
be refreshments night. We will be dark the week after
(November 11), so try to remember the dances Chin
teaches so you can request its review--or at least remember the names in order to put in a request when
we meet again (on November 18). We will be dark
again on November 25! Not a good month for dancing on Tuesday nights. In fact, it extends into December when we will be dark on December 2nd!
Statewide 2015 Meeting: (Festival scheduled for
May 29 -31, 2015) At the meeting on October 12,
we decided on the pricing for the festival, and on a
logo--after it’s revised. We will now be able to advertise and make t-shirts. We also decided on a tentative
schedule for the entire festival and can start inviting
performers for the concert on Sunday of the festival.
The next meeting is scheduled for January 25 in the
Santa Fe room from 10 - 1 p.m. Please come and give
us a hand!

CHATTERBOX
Carolyn Parrish is back for a little while until she leaves again--this time for Hawaii.
Edith Schwartz fell over a curb and broke her left wrist (cast to come off around November 3) and bruised her
face and nose--she says it’s not pretty and she had to miss the Halloween party!
Gompers Kids--we’ve been very happy to see students from Gompers Preparatory Academy join us in dancing
again. They did a superb job helping us decorate, set-up, then take-down, and clean up at the Harvest Festival,
and it’s great to see them dancing. We thank the school’s Director, Vince Riveroll, and the assistant Director Jane
Firpo, for shuttling them to and fro from the school for class. Both Vince and Jane are good dancers. In fact,
some of us went to Gompers Open House where a lot of the seniors presented a dance program choreographed
by Vince! It was great and fun!
Veronica McLeod is in need of care-giver help. If you have any contacts, please let her know!
