The 2014 San Diego
Day of Trauma
Game Changers:
From Pre-hospital to Recovery—
Interventions That Make a Difference
November 7, 2014
Hilton San Diego Resort
San Diego, California
COURSE INFORMATION
COURSE OVERVIEW
Care of critically injured patients demands decisive
action. There are vital moments immediately after
injury and in the days that follow when patient survival and recovery are at risk. Trauma and critical care
providers are often forced to make “game changing”
decisions including whether to implement new or traditional trauma care protocols. The 2014 San Diego
Day of Trauma will present a wide variety of these
trauma and critical care “game changers” encountered in both the pre-hospital and hospital settings.
Conference speakers will include specialists in the
fields of pre-hospital care, trauma surgery, and critical
care. Lectures, real-life case presentations, and interactive sessions will engage attendees and promote
improved patient outcomes.
CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
•• Extensive audience participation segments using an
automated response voting system
•• Concise and focused lectures by experts in trauma
and critical care medicine
•• Case presentation segment focusing on real-life
trauma cases
•• Mobile conference app with access to course materials and recordings from the convenience of your
mobile device or computer
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
After attending this activity, participants should
be able to:
•• Outline high-risk situations in trauma care where
decisive action is needed.
•• Describe pre-hospital scenarios where life and limb
are at risk and demand immediate action.
•• Determine when new and old techniques and protocols need to be combined to ensure the best
patient outcomes.
•• Apply key elements of successful critical language
and communication needed to succeed in the
trauma care setting.
•• Demonstrate characteristics of successful trauma
and critical care teams in practice.
•• Illustrate new developments that have proven successful in improving trauma care outcomes.
•• Summarize the essential elements of taking the
severely injured from the scene to recovery.
