2015 Zoo Teens
Significant Dates
Candidates accepted into the program are asked to attend the following
sessions according to their assigned areas. These important training sessions
cannot be rescheduled, so we ask that you please make every effort to attend.

ZOO TEEN INTERVIEWS will take place January 20 from 5-8pm, January 22 from 5-8pm and
January 24 from 10am-4pm.

SELECTION AND NON-SELECTION LETTERS will be emailed the week of February 9, 2015.
Please do not call or email the Volunteer Office to check on your status until AFTER February 16.

ALL NEW ZOO TEENS: Zoo Teen and Parent Orientation and Hospitality Training
February 28 or March 7, 2015 1pm - 5pm
Candidates and at least one parent/guardian please attend one of these two sessions.
Training will be held in the Polly Horton Hix Institute for Research and Conservation.

ZOO TEENS INTERESTED OR ASSIGNED TO BE A MASCOT OR MASCOT GUIDE:
March 21, 2015 10am-noon or April 27, 2015 6-8pm Please attend one of these two dates. Training
will be held in the Hix Institute. All selected Zoo Teens are welcome!

ONLY ZOO TEENS ASSIGNED TO BE A NATURALIST:
April 25, 2015 9am-1pm or May 3, 2015 1-5pm Zoo Teens assigned please attend one of these two
dates. Training will be held in the Hix Institute.

ONLY ZOO TEENS ASSIGNED TO BE A ZOO CAMP ASSISTANT:
May 4 or May 18, 2015 6pm - 7pm Zoo Teens assigned please attend one of these two dates.
Training will be held in the Hix Institute.

ONLY ZOO TEENS ASSIGNED TO BE A DOLPHIN DEMONSTRATION ATTENDANT:
Training is “on the job.”

ZOO TEENS INTERESTED IN GUEST SERVICES:
Training is “on the job.” Teens are needed for shifts in both spring and fall. See the “Save the Dates”
section below.
Save the Dates!

Guest Services - spring and fall weekends. Greet guests, hand out maps and help keep Zoo grounds free of
trash. Two volunteers needed from 9am-noon and two volunteers needed from noon-3pm each weekend day. All
selected Zoo Teens are encouraged to help out!

Zoobilation: June 12, 2015 The Zoo is closed to the public in order to prepare for our biggest fundraiser of the
year! Zoo Teens do not report to work this day.

Zoo Teen Overnight: June 25, 2015 Arrive at the Zoo around 6pm and stay until 9am the next morning. Take part
in team building activities and hang out with other Zoo Teens!

Zoo Teen Family End of Summer Celebration: August 16, 2015 We want to recognize all of your hard work and
share highlights of the summer.
