The Junior and Senior Disco will be held on the same day but at different times. Children are welcome to come dressed up and there will be prizes for the best dressed as well as spot prizes. There will be drinks, ice-blocks and glow sticks for sale – all $1 each. MANGAKAHIA AREA SCHOOL FESTIVAL Hora Hora School will be performing at the Mangakahia Area School Festival on Thursday 13 November at 10.50 a.m. Room 18 and the Junior School Kapa Haka groups will be attending. Please remember to send your permission slip back to the classroom teacher if you have not already done so. MANAIA VIEW FESTIVAL Room 18 and the Junior School will be performing at this festival held on Friday 21 November. No times available at time of printing. EXPERIENCING MARINE RESERVES – SENIOR SCHOOL The senior classes are planning to go snorkelling with the Experiencing Marine Reserves Programme as part of their Water Studies Unit. The school pool will be used to teach the children how to snorkel at the end of this month before they visit one of the reserves in the Whangarei Harbour in November. Permission slips have been sent home, please ensure these are returned to your classroom teacher as soon as possible. ABSENCES Please remember to advise the office each day that your child is going to be away – even if you have told the teacher. We have a toll free number so there is no charge if you are calling from a cell phone. When using the answer phone PLEASE SPEAK CLEARLY and give your CHILD’S FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, ROOM NUMBER and REASON FOR ABSENCE. READING TOGETHER PROGRAMME This programme starts next week, Tuesday 4 November and will run each Tuesday from 6.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. for four weeks finishing 25 November 2014. Thanks to those families that have registered for this session, we look forward to seeing you next week. This programme offers a range of strategies to help parents support their child/children with their reading and is offered to all parents of Hora Hora School in an informal but informative format. The Election date is 14 November 2014 and there are two parent representative positions available.
