SUNDAY READINGS
Bereavement Group
If you would like to be part of a parish-based bereavement
group led by a qualified coordinator, please register your
interest to Fr. Pat in the parish office, through email, phone or
letter. It would be helpful if you could indicate whether a
daytime or evening meeting would suit you better.
1st Reading: Revelations 7:9. 14-17
The apocalypse is a special kind of dramatic writing which stries to describe in
human terms a mystery beyond description. But the central picture is clear: not
a tiny group who scraped into heaven, but the countless picture is clear: not a
tiny group who scraped into heaven, but the countless number from every walk
of life and from all corners of the earth who are at home with God.
Psalm Response
Such are the men who seek your face, O Lord.
2nd Reading: 1 John 3: 1-3
Christians should have no identity crisis. John assures us that, not only in name
but also in fact we are truly God’s children. We are made in the image of Jesus,
and this identity will be revealed more clearly in heaven, when we reflect his
glory.
Gospel: Matthew 5: 1-12
The beatitudes are a fuller picture than the commandments of what Christian life
is about. People who live up to this ideal are not simply ‘happy’, but truly
blessed, like God himself.
All-night Vigil of Prayer
